Chapter 10
Keiran and I held our wedding on Aspen Mountain, my favorite place in Colorado.
Lately, the weather hasn’t been great in Colorado, but during our wedding ceremony, warm sunlight shone down on us.
When I saw how happy my father looked, I finally understood what it meant for two people to be a perfect match.
Being a good couple isn’t just about wealth, it’s also about understanding and connection.
He knows the struggle I can’t bring myself to say, and I see through his unspoken words. But deep down, we both care for each other.
When something goes wrong, we should face it side by side, not hide from it or look for an escape.
I didn’t want our wedding to be too formal, so Keiran went along with my wishes and kept everything simple. At the wedding reception, all I had to do was to give a short speech and give toasts, then it was over.
For our final honeymoon stop, Keiran booked two plane tickets to Austin.
When we arrived in Austin, I took in a deep breath of the air I’d known for six years.
“How did you know this was the place I missed the most?” I asked.
He gently patted my head and replied, “Besides your feelings, this is the place where your heart grew roots. You lived here for years, and no matter what, people always miss where they once belonged.”
I know that no one else in the world gets me the way he does.
I grabbed a taxi and headed to the beef restaurant where I had worked for
six years.
The only thing that changed was that this time. I wasn’t walking in as a staff, but as the owner.
This was the very first restaurant I opened when I started my career.
The manager came out with the team to welcome me. “Ms. Mackey, we really owe it to you! Ever since you came up with the live–streaming idea and even did it yourself, business has been booming. We’ve opened several branches!
“We’ve also prepared everything you asked for!”
I glanced at Keiran. He gave a small nod, tied the apron around my waist. then put one on himself.
“This can get pretty greasy. If you’re not okay with that, just wait for me over there,” he said.
Keiran shrugged, scooped up a beef, and placed it on the cutting board.
“It’s really not that greasy. I’m wearing gloves, so I won’t even feel it.” he added.
A light breeze moved through my hair, and he gently tucked a loose strand behind my ear using his clean hand.
At that moment, I realized it wasn’t the breeze that stirred me, it was my heart.
I look good even without makeup, while Keiran had the kind of sharp yet warm appearance people often admire in dramas.

As I chopped up the beef. he stood beside me helping and calling out to
the camera.
The live streaming became a huge hit, and long lines of people stretched across both nearby streets.
Roughly 30 minutes passed before Keiran removed his gloves, washed his hands, and gave me a massage on my back and shoulders, then quietly led me away from the live camera.
“You’re the boss now. Let your employees handle it fully. If you step in too much, they won’t learn,” he reminded me.
I nodded slowly, still processing everything, as he walked over to the front desk and swiped a black credit card.

“Ms. treating everyone. Please enjoy as much as you like!” he announced cheerfully.
In the line, Alfred stood patiently, his face showing signs of exhaustion after waiting for nearly an hour.
Just as he was about to reach the front, Keiran quietly turned around and walked away with me.
Alfred stayed still, staring at my back as though lost in thought.
As we exited, Keiran and I noticed him sitting alone near the edge of the crowd, quickly eating his beef pasta.
It was the first time he had tasted the dish I had researched.
But I won’t let myself be swayed by emotion and repeat past mistakes again.
