In a narrow alley.
Under the relentless lists and kicks of a group of thugs, a frail figure curled up on the ground, trembling. Her voice was hoarse as she tried to resist, but the moment she moved, she was brutally stomped down again..
Someone slammed their foot onto her shoulder and gave a harsh kick. Her face was forced into view
One side was breathtakingly beautiful, the other hideously disfigured by twisted
“Sh’t, what the hell is that?! Turn her over, I’m gonna puke!”
“This is the woman Mr. Nero White married? A guy like him could have anyone–why would he pick a freak like her?!”
“Who knows! Maybe rich people have weird fetishes. Anyway, enough talking, Let’s finish her and get this over with.”
The thugs raised their fists again.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed from the alleyway.
A well–dressed couple strolled in arm–in–arm, looking completely at ease.
“Mr. Chase, Ms. Claudia–you came yourselves? No need, we’ve got this. She’ll be dead soon, no problem.”
The thugs grinned.
Claudia forced her head up, eyes blazing with hate..
“It’s… you?!”
Yvonne Cloud Chase White.
One had once been her closest sister. The other, the man she had loved most. And now, it wasn’t enough that they ruined her -they wanted her dead.
“Why…”
“Why?” Chase looked down at her coldly. “Uncle Nero’s dead. You’re useless now. No reason to keep you around.”
Yvonne curled her lips into a smile. “Claudia, since you’re about to die, I’ll do you a favor and tell you the truth. The only reason we needed you was for Mr. Nero’s assets. Now that he’s gone and his wealth is ours, you can go
The White family. Mr. Nero. The most powerful and wealthy man in Capital City…
And someone, he had fallen hard for this pathetic scum of a wroudil…
Yvonne’s eyes turned red with jealousy
Claudia felt a deafening roar inside her head.
“Nerous, dead:
Her voice cracked as she spoke.
die.”
“He died in a car crash three days ago,” Yvonne said with a laugh. “Gave his life to save yours, What, no one told you when you woke up?“.
She waved her hand.
The blows came down heavier.

Tears streamed silently down her cheeks. In the haze of pain, she saw him–his cold and powerful eyes meeting hers from across her fading memory.
Nero. The one and only Mr. Nero of the White family, ruler of one of Capital City’s oldest and most secretive families, ruthless and untouchable. He had been her husband–at least in name.
And now… he had died because of her.
If only she could go back. Back to before she trusted those two snakes. Back to before she ever hurt Nero…
A black car braked hard at an intersection. In the backseat, the girl’s eyes flew open.
“Ms. Claudia! Get out, Mr. Nero is waiting for you!”
Claudia was still dazed, but Clark’s voice jolted her awake.
This was…?!
She touched her face–smooth, unburned–and stared in disbelief at her surroundings.
Clark urged again, “Ms. Claudia-
Keep driving.”
Clark hesitated. “Mr. Nero’s on his deathbed! You can’t just walk into that mess!”
“I said keep driving. Take me to Blossom Park
Her voice was hoarse, trembling, but firm.
No one could have guessed how overwhelmed she felt inside.
She suddenly remembered exactly when this was. Nero had moved from Capital to Hudsonville to recover from a health issue, and today–this was the day she’d married him and moved into Blossom Park.
Her eyes stung with emotion
No one had expected that the man she avoided and feared would end up being the only one who truly cared for her.
She had run from him. Betrayed him. Let him fall from his high throne. In the end, he gave his life to save her.
Claudia pushed back her tears.
In her past life, this was the day she listened to her stepsister, Yvonne, and decided to elope with Chase.
She locked eyes with Clark through the rearview mirror–her gaze bloodshot.
She–knew, Clark was Yvonne’s man.
Clark flinched. “Alright, alright! Got it!”
Her phone buzzed. She picked it up.
Yvonne: “Claudia, don’t worry. Go with Mr. Chase, I’ll take care of the rest.”
Her eyes darkened with hate. She turned off the phone without hesitation.

Chapter 1 The Fourth Wife
As the car drew closer to Blossom Park, her emotions surged uncontrollably.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived.
Upstairs.
A tall man sat in a wheelchair, watching the car roll to a stop with deep, unreadable eyes.
“Mr. Nero, Ms. Claudia has arrived,” Simon said beside him.
Nero lowered his gaze. “How many girls has it been for this month?”
Simon hesitated. The fourth.

Since arriving in Hudsonville and announcing his search for a wife, this was the fourth woman Mr. Nero had married this month.
The first lasted a week–dead.
The second, two days–went mad.
The third never even set foot in Blossom Park before screaming that she’d rather jump off a building.
Madam Cheryl was desperate. Then she remembered a long–ago promise between the White and Cloud families.
But hadn’t Mr. Nero already told the Cloud family patriarch he wouldn’t honor that engagement? Why was Claudia here anyway?
Given Mr. Nero’s reputation… anyone with sense would run. And she’d come here willingly?
“Come on. Let’s go see,” Nero said in a low voice.
Downstairs.
Claudia sar on the sofa, suitcase beside her, nerves taut.
The elevator doors opened, and her heart jumped.
Nero was wheeled out–he had recently been injured and couldn’t walk
He was tall and handsome, though pale and sickly. His whole presence exuded cold nobility.
Claudia shot to her feet, her eyes instantly welling with tears. Guilt overwhelmed her.
Nero’s brows furrowed. His interest waned immediately.
“Someone take Ms. Claudia home”
Another one sent here by the family. He wasn’t desperate enough to keep a woman like this.
“Wait!” Claudia panicked and rushed forward.
Nero turned his head, his eyes dark and unreadable. “What?”
Even seated, his aura was cold and commanding
“.. I’ve already married you. I’m not leaving. I want to stay.”
There wasn’t a hint of reluctance in her voice.
She owed him too much. If fate had given her this second chance, it had to mean something. She wasn’t going to waste it. She couldn’t leave–not this time.
She thought of the truth she’d only learned right before her death, and her throat tightened.

The room fell silent.
“Stay” For a moment, Nero thought he’d misheard.
Women usually ran from him like he was the plague. This was the first time one had asked to stay.
Her bright eyes held no fear–only nervousness and uncertainty. And… guilt?
He had to admit, something in his heart stirred at that
moment
After a tense silence, he said-
