Overcome with emotion, she rushed forward and gave him a quick hug. Her voice was soft but solemn, like a promise. “I’ll treat you well.”

It was just a hug—but it was the closest they had ever been, in
She hadn’t thought much when she moved, but the moment she felt the warmth of his body, her face flushed with embarrassment. She let go immediately and bolted upstairs.
Even once in her room, her cheeks were still burning. She felt a wave of regret over her impulsiveness.
He’s a clean freak and hates being touched. Would he start to resent me now?
Downstairs
Once the girl’s graceful figure vanished from sight, Nero finally came back to himself.
Treat me well..?
He could still feel the warmth where she’d hugged him. Nero frowned slightly, an odd look crossing his face–almost as was intrigued.
No one had ever said something like that to him before.
Simon, standing nearby, looked absolutely stunned.
Mr. Nero wasn’t angry? Wasn’t disgusted?
Last time Miss Lorraine threw herself at him, he’d gone stone–cold and nearly kicked her across the room!
Upstairs.
Wendy, the housekeeper, didn’t bother hiding her dislike for Claudia.
When they reached the room, Claudia paused at the door. “This is where I’m staying?”

She had lived at Blossom Park for years in her past life and knew this place inside out. This was just an ordinary guest room- far from Nero’s.
But now, she was supposed to be the lady of the house.
Wendy’s face was severe and cold. “Your arrival was unexpected. The main room wasn’t ready. I’m afraid you’ll have to make
do here for tow.
The words were polite on the surface. And Wendy wasn’t just anyone–she’d served the White family for years and held weight even in Nero’s eyes.
Claudia didn’t argue. She simply wheeled in her suitcase and entered the room.
After a quick tidy–up, she decided to take a shower. But once in the bathroom, she discovered the hot water system was broken.
As housekeeper, Wendy had to know this bathroom was faulty–yet she’d still brought her here.
Did she do it on purpose?
Claudia’s gaze turned cold. She stepped out and asked one of the maids which room she could use to shower.
The maid, Mandy, blinked “This way”

“This is the one. Go on in, the maid said.
Claudia’s eyes softened with nostalgia. She recognized this room–it was Nero’s.
“Alright, go on,” she said casually, stepping inside. “And bring me some clean clothes.”

She hadn’t packed much–she’d originally planned to elope with Chase, so her luggage was light. But she knew Blossom Park kept spare clothes for guests.
Meanwhile, downstairs.
From the moment she arrived, Yvonne could hardly contain her excitement.
Other women
ran from Mr. Nero like he was the plague–but not her.
Mr. Nero. That name alone carried unimaginable power. So what if he was sick and might not live long? Being his woman came with endless perks.
She was also a daughter of the Cloud family, wasn’t she? Why shouldn’t she be the one to marry him?
Claudia’s mother was long dead. Yvonne’s mother was now the official lady of the Cloud family. Transferring the engagement To her made perfect sense.
Luckily, her dumb little sister had fallen for it. One push, and Claudia ran off to elope. The position of Mrs. White was practically handed to her.
She nearly burst into laughter.
“Mr. Nero, this is Ms. Yvonne of the Cloud family.”
Yvonne quickly stood when Nero was wheeled in. The moment she saw him, her heart started to race.
She had never seen a man with such presence and looks,
“Hello, I’m Yvonne!” she said shyly, nervous but expectant. The thought of becoming his wife lit up her eyes.
Nero watched her reaction in silence, his voice flat. “The Cloud family? What are you doing here?”
“I’ve come to apologize on my sister’s behalf,” Yvonne said solemnly. “Mr. Nero, my sister is young and foolish. She heard some nasty rumors, got scared, and ran off with someone else…
Upstairs, Claudia had finished her shower. But the maid still hadn’t brought her any clothes.
Frowning, she pulled open the wardrobe and found one of Nero’s roles.
The man was tall the robe dragged along the floor once she put it on. She had to hike it up and tie it tightly around her waist, the fabric bunching loosely around her frame.
She stepped out of the room, intending to find someone and ask for clothes–when she suddenly heard a painfully familiar voice downstairs:
“…I’m willing to take my sister’s place and marry you. Please don’t blame the Cloud family.”
The righteous tone, the self–sacrificing big–sister act–Claudia’s face instantly turned cold.
Below.
Yvonne looked every bit the gentle, stubborn beauty. Chin lifted, eyes slightly red, she awaited Nero’s response with confidence.
She was just as good as Claudia–if not better. If Nero had accepted Claudia, why not her?
Especially now that Claudia had eloped-

A soft, elegant voice drifted from the staircase.
Yvonne froze. Her head snapped up
When she saw the girl coming down the stairs, her face twisted in shock.
Claudia?! What is she doing here?!
Nero, who had been listening with a stony expression, also looked up–and then stopped dead.

The girl had clearly just showered. Her hair was still damp and loosely tied up. Her fair skin was flushed from the heat, her bright features radiant.
Her eyes shimmered with moisture, drawing people in with a single glance.
She had always been beautiful–but now, she looked utterly irresistible.
And yet the most eye–catching thing wasn’t her face–it was the robe.
That ill–fitting, loose robe.
Nero recognized it immediately. It was his.
His eyes narrowed.
Simon and the maids felt a chill run down their spines.
It was over.
Mr. Nero was fiercely territorial, obsessive about cleanliness, and absolutely hated people touching his things without permission. And this new wife had just made the biggest mistake possible.
