In her past life, even after a long time had passed, when Chase came looking for her mother’s journalit had still been there

Mail

Claudia’s eyes narrowed sharply

Chase had been cheating on her with Yvonne for who knows how long. Who’s to say he hadn’t gotten that journal through. her

The journal’s disappearance suddenly had a very likely explanation

She got up and headed out

And right thenYvonne returned

Claudia, you’re back?Yvonne smiled, playing the concerned sister. What happened? You look pale.”

Claudia gave her a cool glance. Something valuable of mine is missing. Has anyone been in my room!”

Henry exploded. What’s that supposed to mean? Are you accusing your own family?!”

Claudia’s tone was calm. It was kept here at home. If no one in the family took it, then it had to be an outside thief. But how likely is it that a thief got in here, found something that valuable, and left without being noticed?”

Maybe a maid misplaced it while cleaning.Summer said quickly, trying to smooth things over. Claudia, what exactly is missing?”

My mother’s medical journal.”

Silence

Everyone in the house knew about that notebook. Someone had once offered tens of millions for it, and Claudia refused. It was no ordinary item

The maids were called in and lined up

Upon hearing what was missing, they turned pale. No one dared confess

Yvonne’s expression remained serene as she sighed and said kindly, Claudia, they’re just servants. They probably didn’t know it was something so valuable. Maybe they lost it by accident. They didn’t mean any harm. Do you really want to press. this? Even if someone confessed, they could never pay you back. Do you want to push them to the edge?”

The maids instantly looked at her with gratitude in their eyes

And now, some of them began to resent Claudiathinking Ms. Claudia really isn’t as kind as Ms. Yonne said. Is she really trying to destroy someone’s life over a mistake

Claudia let out a cold laugh and said slowly-

My cabinet was locked. There’s no way someone could’ve taken the notebook unless they deliberately stole it. So this wasn’t some careless cleaning accident. I gathered everyone here out of respect for how long you’ve worked for the Cloud family- to give you a chance to come clean. But if you’re not going to take it, then we’ll let the police handle it. Whatever the outcome, we’ll go by the book.”

She pulled out her phone, dialing

Yvonne’s expression twitched. She blurted out, What evidence?!”

Claudia’s gaze darkened. She looked at her with a ghost of a smile. I installed a camera in my roomtop right corner of the desk. Didn’t you notice?”

Yvonne’s face instantly turned pale

Now that she thought about itthere was something cameralike on Claudia’s desk

As Claudia moved to make the call, Yvonne panicked. She didn’t have time to think and lunged forward to snatch the phone from her hands

Everyone in the room turned to look at her

Claudia raised her brow, amused, Yvonne, what are you doing?”

Yvonne forced a strained smile. I just remembered. The journal might be at my place.”

Oh?Claudia’s tone was impossible to read. You didn’t remember after all that questioning, but the moment I mentioned calling the police, then you remembered?”

The servants looked at Yvonne with strange expressions

They had all been ready to take the fall. Yvonne had stood up for themso they were grateful

But now? It turned out they were just scapegoats for her

And suddenly, Yvonne’s kindness didn’t feel so sincere anymore

Her timing was just a bit too convenient

The weight of their gazes made Yvonne feel like ants were crawling under her skin. She gritted her teeth, still faking a smile. Wisteria came over and wanted to see it. I went to your room and got it for her. I forgot to return itand so much time passed, I completely forgot.”

WisteriaClaudia’s cousin

Oh, is that so?Claudia smiled faintly. Then please give it back. Also, it’s my mother’s keepsake, and extremely valuable. Yvonne, please don’t touch it again. Someone might think you stole it on purpose.”

Yvonne’s smile cracked. She bit her lip. Fine. I’ll go get it”

Moments later, the notebook was returnedlocked in its original case

One glance, and Claudia knew they hadn’t been able to get it open

She took it back and quietly returned to her room

entire suitcase

This time, anything importantespecially anything tied to her motherwas packed up. She filled an

Summer showed up at the doorway, expression changing as she saw the luggage. Claudia, what are you doing? You don’t plan on coming back anymore?”

‘i married now. I have my own home. Wouldn’t be right to keep running back here.”

Thinking of Nero made her heart swell. Even her casual reply tasted sweet

This housewithout her motherhad stopped being her home long ago. She just hadn’t realized it

Now, home was wherever Nero was

There’s no need to take so much with you. Suminer said sweetly. What would people think if they saw this? It might look

bad

No. I’ll feel better taking it. What if something accidentallygoes missing again?”

Yvonne had just walked in and heard thather face turned red, then pale, then red again. Her practiced, gentle smile completely collapsed

Claudia didn’t even bother looking at her. She rolled the suitcase toward the door

Then paused, turned back, and picked up the small camerashaped object on her desk-

And tossed it into the trash

Yvonne was puzzled

Oh, right, I forgot to mention,Claudia said innocently. That’s just a decoration. Not a real camera. I only said that to smoke out the thief. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to be you, Yvonne.”

She turned and left, suitcase in tow, grinning as she walked out the doorleaving Yvonne with a twisted expression of barely suppressed fury

Claudia had taken a cab to get hereand she took a cab back as well

When she returned to Blossom Park, she immediately sensed something was off

The servants looked startled to see her. No one approached her, but all of them glanced up toward the second floor

Their eyes were filled with anticipation? Gloating? Mischief

Like they were watching a showand she was the star

Claudia hadn’t even opened her mouth to ask when a shrill voice drifted down from above-

Thesethese! Throw them all out! Who let this junk in here? Didn’t I say this room was mine? Who gave permission to just barge in?!”
