Chapter 8 The Room’s Been Taken
A young woman’s voice rang out from upstairs.
Claudia’s gaze turned cold. She handed her suitcase to a nearby maid. “Bring that up for me later.”
Then she climbed the stairs, heading straight for the guest room next to Nero’s.

As she approached, she saw a well–dressed girl perched on the edge of the bed, issuing orders like she owned the place. The closet Claudia had filled just yesterday had been emptied, her suitcase pulled out and tossed in the middle of the room like
trash
Claudia’s eyes turned icy.
“Ma’am?!”
Two maids spotted her, faces changing instantly. Both were frozen in place, holding her belongings–unable to drop them, but too afraid to put them back. They looked helplessly toward the girl.
Claudia followed their gaze.
She had already recognized the voice downstairs–Raine, Wendy’s daughter.
Wendy’s late husband had been the White family’s driver. He died saving Madam Cheryl during an accident, earning the mother–daughter pair elevated status in the household.
Technically a maid’s daughter, but treated well enough by Madam Cheryl that Raine had started acting like she was half a socialite herself.
In her last life, Raine had made Claudia’s time here miserable.
“Who gave you the right to touch my things?” Claudia asked coldly, her gaze sweeping over the mess of her room.
The maids opened their mouths but said nothing–too guilty to speak.
These are your things?” Raine stood up and looked her over. “Why are your belongings in my room? Are you new? Didn’t anyone tell you this is one of the master bedrooms? New maids aren’t allowed in here.”
Her tone was lofty, like she really believed Claudia was a maid.
But Claudia’s clothes and aura were clearly nothing like a servant’s. To mistake her for one… you’d have to be blind–or intentionally pretending.
And Raine was certainly not blind.
Especially when the two maids had already called her “Ma’am.”
Claudia didn’t spare her a glance. Instead, she looked at the maids and said lazily, “Don’t recognize me? Is she a new maid?”
Raine froze. Her eyes flicked down to the designer clothes she wore–no maid would dress like this.
“I’m not a maid!” she snapped.
“Then who are you?
Ti Rainel”
The way she said it carried a strange sort of pride, like her name alone should mean something to Claudia.
Bur Claudia only folded her arms and blinked. “Raine? Who? There’s no one named Raine among the owners of Blossom
Park.”
“You- Raine looked like she’d been slapped. “Wendy is my mother!”

“Oh, Wendy’s daughter?” Claudia’s voice was light, but the disdain was clear. Wo big title–one might think she was royalty the way the said it.
She feigned realization. “But Wendy’s daughter isn’t a master of this house, is she? So who let you into my room
That one line-“Wendy’s daughter isn’t a master of this house“-landed like a hard slap on Raine’s face.
She gritted her teeth, managing a smile. “Mr. Nero said I could have this room.”
Claudia didn’t believe a word of it.
If Nero had promised it to her, why was it assigned to Claudia in the first place!
Her smirk deepened. “You just said this is a master’s bedroom. Before talking big, maybe remember your place. Out of respect for Wendy, I’ll assume you entered the wrong room
She knew Raine hated being reminded of her background. She never mentioned her status as a maid’s daughter, often letting people assume she was a young lady of the White family.
Sure enough, Raine’s face twisted.
Ignoring her expression, Claudia turned to the maids. “Before Mr. Nero comes back, I want this room exactly the way it was This is the only chance I’m giving you. Don’t waste it.”
Then she turned and walked away.
For a few seconds, the room was frozen by her commanding presence.
The maids looked nervously at each other and whispered, “Raine, what now?”
Raine suppressed her rage. “What do you mean, what now? You’re going to take orders from her! Keep moving my things in.”
“But what if she tells Mr. Nero…”
“Then let her” Raine sneered, “Let’s see who Mr. Nero sides with–me, or her”
The maids hesitated, then remembered: Raine had done this with Nero’s previous wives too. He had never cared.
Kaine had stayed. The others hadn’t.
Compared to the wives who came and went, Raine was the one worth buttering up.
Downstairs–
Claudia noticed the noise from upstairs hadn’t stopped. She smiled coldly but didn’t intervene..
Two hours later, Nero returned.
The moment she heard the door, Claudia’s eyes lit up and she skipped happily to greet him.
Nero was wheeled inside, accompanied by Simon and a few other aides.
“You’re back!”
Seeing her bright smile and the way she ran toward him, Nero’s deep eyes softened–just slightly.
He nodded. Then he spotted the suitcase Claudia had brought back from the Cloud house, still sitting beside the couch. He frowned. “You just got back?”
Claudia shook her head, then pouted sweetly. “I’ve been waiting for you for over two hours.”
The words were light and affectionate, but Nero’s expression soon darkened again. He glanced at the suitcase. “You’ve been back this long and your things aren’t upstairs? The maids refusing to help?”
His tone carried a distinct chill.

The maids nearby panicked. One of them, face pale, looked pleadingly at Claudia.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to bring the suitcase up–it was that the guest room had been taken. She didn’t know where else to put it!
Claudia recognized the maid. She was one of the quieter, honest tones–not part of Raine’s crowd..
“It’s not her fault, Claudia began-
But before she could finish, Raine came downstairs.
To everyone’s surprise, she was pulling a suitcase–looking like she was leaving-
She lit up when she saw Nero and rushed forward. “Mr. Nero!”
But her smile froze when she noticed Claudia beside him. Her eyes reddened, and the grin turned strained.
Claudia narrowed her gaze. Now what game is she playing?
Raine’s back?” Simon, more familiar with her, asked casually. “Where are you off to?”
“1…” Raine bit her lip, casting a quick, wounded glance at Claudia. “There’s someone here who doesn’t want me around. Mr. Nero, I think it’s better if I move out.”

Oh, so that’s what she was trying to pull.
Claudia didn’t rush to stop her–she stood calmly to the side, watching the show unfold.
“You’re moving out? What happened?” Simon looked toward Nero, surprised that he hadn’t spoken yet, then turned back to
Raine.
“Someone doesn’t want me living here,” Raine replied with red–rimmed eyes, glancing tearfully at Claudia. “She said I’m just a maid’s daughter and not worthy…”
The moment those words dropped, several of Nero’s subordinates turned sharply to glare at Claudia.
They were familiar with Raine and generally on good terms with her.
And her look made it abundantly clear who she was accusing.
“Raine is Wendy’s daughter. Whether she belongs here or not is for Mr. Nero to decide,” one of the subordinates, Belle, said coldly, shooting Claudia a pointed glance.
Claudia remembered him–one of Nero’s fiercely loyal men, Young, brash, and harboring feelings for Raine. In her past life, he’d been ruined because of her.
Surrounded by disapproving stares, Claudia remained composed. She turned her gaze toward the man in the wheelchair and asked sweetly, “Honey, I am the lady of Blossom Park, right?”
That word–honey–always seemed to catch him off guard, drawing a flicker of something unreadable from deep within.
Nero looked into her clear, bright eyes. He leaned back in his wheelchair, tone steady. “Of course.”
Then who is she?” Claudia asked, lifting a slim finger and pointing directly at Raine.
No one responded. The atmosphere was taut with anticipation–until one of the honest maids spoke up, “Ma’am, she’s Wendy’s daughter.”
A beat of silence.
Then Claudia’s soft, languid voice echoed through the room: “Oh, Wendy’s daughter outranks me–the mistress of this house?”
Raine’s face tightened
She opened her mouth, but Nero spoke first-
“Who told you she outranks you?”
daughter. Are we saying that in Blossom Park,
“Isn’t it obvious?” Claudia tilted her head. “Otherwise, why would she have the nerve to barge into my room, throw my things out, and take over? I’m the mistress of Blossom Park, yet I get sent to a guest room, while the maid’s daughter moves into the guest suite. Is that the rule of this house?”
The moment she finished, silence fell like a heavy curtain.
Belle and the others were clearly unaware of what had happened. Their expressions turned uncertain, and they looked at Raine in confusion.
Raine’s composure cracked. “Mr. Nero, I didn’t know she was your wife…”
“Oh?” Claudia cut in with a cool voice. “Funny. You had two maids right beside you calling me ‘Ma’am‘ loud and clear. You didn’t hear that?”
Raine froze, the color draining from her face.
She bit her lip and turned pitiful eyes toward Nero, “Mr. Nero, you promised me… You said if I did well on my exams, you’d

reward me. And I just wanted that room..”
That guest room–right next to Nero–was the one she had long coveted.
Claudia’s gaze sharpened instantly.
Reward? Nero always kept his word. What if he really had promised?
Before he could speak, she quickly stepped in.
“Honey, you’re not going to just stand there and watch some servant’s daughter bully me, are you?”
Her voice was petulant, but not overbearing. Her big eyes blinked up at him, full of nervous hope.
Raine’s face turned a furious shade of green.
She hated being reminded of her low birth more than anything.
Nero met Claudia’s anxious gaze. He didn’t respond immediately.
She stared harder, eyes wide with anticipation.
Finally, he said, “I won’t.”
Claudia instantly relaxed, joy blooming in her eyes like spring sunlight.
Raine, on the other hand, cried out, “Mr. Nero?!”

“I did say I’d give you a reward,” Nero said flatly, “but that doesn’t mean I’d agree to something unreasonable–like asking the mistress of this house to give up her room and move into a guest room
The silence was deafening.
Raine’s face turned pale, then red, then pale again–completely stunned. She clearly hadn’t expected Nero to reject her.
Claudia nearly laughed out loud. She caught Nero looking at her, so she quickly held it in and blinked at him innocently.
She didn’t notice the flicker of amusement that passed through Nero’s deep eyes.
Turning back to Raine, she asked with a sweet smile, “Oh, where are you moving then? Got a place? Want help finding one?”
kaine was speechless,
Her expression was a kaleidoscope of shame and rage.
Facing everyone’s stares, she gritted her teeth and muttered, “I’m not moving.”
At this point she didn’t care about appearances anymore. If she really left now, she’d lose everything.
Blossom Park wasn’t somewhere just anyone could live. Her mother had begged for this spot. If she moved out now, coming back would be near impossible.
“Oh, then please return my room to how it was. Find everything you tossed out and bring it back. Take your things and get them out. That shouldn’t be too hard, right?” Claudia said with breezy confidence.
Raine’s eyes reddened in fury.
Claudia was treating her like a maid.
But in front of Nero, she didn’t dare protest. Gritting her teeth, she muttered, I got it.”
She turned to go upstairs, but Claudia’s eyes flicked to the suitcase in her hand. Cheerfully, she offered, “That suitcase looks heavy. Need help
Without waiting for an answer, she called to a maid nearby. “Lend her a hand.”
