“Wait… Did Claudia just say that you and your mom were the ones who dressed her up like that before?”
The girls weren’t stupid. They could read between the lines,
If Claudia was telling the truth….

Yvonne quickly explained, “I thought she liked it! I was just trying to help her, I didn’t know she didn’t like it… But she never said anything”
She bit her lip, voice full of grievance. “We’ve known each other for so long–don’t you all know what kind of person I am?”
Yvonne had always been good at putting on a show. As a stepdaughter mixing successfully in high society, she knew exactly how to act.
Seeing her like this, a few of the girls hesitated. In the end, they chose to believe her.
Then someone suddenly asked, “Wait–did Claudia say husband just now? She’s married?”
All eyes turned to Yvonne. “Who did she marry?”
Thinking of that handsome, noble man, jealousy surged in Yvonne’s chest. She offered a guilty smile and answered vaguely, “Sorry… it’s not really something I can share.”
Her tone held a trace of ambiguity–enough to let people get the wrong idea.
Not convenient to say? Why not?
Unless Claudia married someone embarrassing, someone the Cloud family didn’t want people to know about.
The crowd jumped to their own conclusions and pressed for more. Yvonne smiled awkwardly, playing the part of someone caught in the middle. “I really can’t say..”
But she didn’t deny it.
Immediately, people began glancing toward Claudia with renewed disdain.
“The way she spoke earlier, you’d think she married someone incredible.”
“Right? But I just heard someone say she arrived in a taxit”
“What No way. Her husband doesn’t even have a car?”
“Yikes.”
They laughed openly, occasionally throwing mocking glances Claudia’s way.
Later, when the party was winding down and Claudia was getting ready to leave, the group exchanged looks–and followed after her with wicked grins.
Claudia checked the time. It was about time to head back.
She’d originally come in a car from Blossom Park, but halfway through, the driver got a call–his elderly mother had fallen. and been taken to the hospital. Seeing how anxious he was, Claudia told him to go and finished the trip by taxi.
The situation probably hadn’t been resolved yet, so she planned to call another ride.
Just then, Yvonne and her group approached.
“Claudia, how are you getting home? Don’t tell me a taxi?”
No way! Don’t tell us your husband doesn’t even owit

Claudia slowly lifted her lashes, bored. “Whether my husband owns a car or not–what’s it to you? Don’t you have boyfriends of your own? Why are you so obsessed with mine?”
Just then, someone walked by and overheard. They gave the girls a strange, uncomfortable look.
“You” one of the girls snapped, her face flushing red, either from anger or embarrassment. “Who’s obsessed with your husband? Please! Like anyone wants a man who’s invisible in public and can’t even drive!”
Claudia’s expression twitched slightly.
Mr. Nero… invisible? C
Can’t even drivet
If he heard that, she couldn’t imagine his reaction.
She glanced at Yvonne.
These girls didn’t know who she married–but Yvonne definitely did. And yet they still believed Claudia had married some loser? That wasn’t just a misunderstanding. That was intentional.
Clearly, her dear stepsister really couldn’t stand to see her doing well.
“Let me clarify,” Claudia said, lifting her chin with quiet pride. “My husband is incredibly handsome, far more presentable than anyone. I don’t know how many cars he owns, but it’s definitely more than your entire garage combined. Of course you don’t want him–you’re not even qualified to want him.”
One girl scoffed. “Please! If he’s got all those cars, why didn’t he pick you up? And you’re still stuck taking taxis home?”
Claudia opened her mouth to reply, but-
“Ma’am”
A deep voice cut in from behind.
She turned around–and blinked in surprise. Simon was standing there, respectful as ever.
“You’re here?” she asked, surprised.
“Of course, I came to take you home,” he replied, motioning toward the car behind him.
Claudia followed his gesture–and her eyes widened in delight.
The window wasn’t fully closed, and she caught a glimpse of the figure in the back seat. She recognized him instantly.
Nere
Her joy was immediate–and her face flushed bright red.
He must’ve heard everything she just said, right?
“Ma’am, please get in,” Simon said.
The group of girls stood frozen, stunned. They looked at the impeccably dressed Simon, then at the sleek, expensive car behind him
Claudia didn’t hesitate. “My husband’s here to pick me up, Bye”
