Chapter 23 Not That Simple
Chapter 23 Not That Simple
“I don’t know anything about it. It had nothing to do with me- Mandy stammered.
“Then tell me, besides you, who else has been in my room?”
Mandy fell silent, her face paling.

She’d thought swapping out a few flowers wouldn’t be a big deal. The bouquet was already wilting–what did it matter if a few ended up in the trash?
She never imagined Claudia would care so much about a bunch of flowers.
“Where did you take them?” Claudia’s mood had clearly soured. That bouquet was a meaningful gift–now completely ruined.
Just then, Raine happened to walk by. Mandy instinctively glanced at her.
Raine quickly shot her a look.
Gritting her teeth, Mandy muttered, “I gave them away.”
“Gave them away?” Claudia laughed coldly. “And who gave you the right to touch my things–let alone give them away?”
Raine stepped forward. “It was just a few flowers. You clearly didn’t care about them–they were sitting out. Isn’t it a bit much to be so aggressive?”
Claudia moved slowly to the sofa and sat down, crossing her legs. Her eyes lifted coldly.
“Did Wendy not teach you how to speak to me?”
Raine stiffened.
“I’m the lady of the house. Those were my things. How they’re handled is my business. It’s not your place to speak.”
She didn’t even bother giving Raine face.
Then she turned to Wendy, who had just arrived. “Is there a rule in Blossom Park for this kind of situation?”
Wendy responded, “If the situation is serious and causes significant damage, the person is dismissed. But if it’s minor, they can be given a second chance.”
Without waiting for Claudia’s reply, she snapped at Mandy, “Well? Hurry and apologize to Madam! You’re lucky this was just a few flowers and not something worse–otherwise, you’d already be out!”
Mandy quickly bowed her head. “I’m sorry, Madam. Please forgive me just this once!”
Claudia’s lip turled faintly in mockery.
Broke into my room. Stole from me. And you’re calling it just a few flowers?
“Is this what Blossom Park calls tight management?”
Wendy responded, “If Madam doesn’t trust my judginent, we can ask Mr. Nero to make the decision.”
Claudia’s icy gaze bore into her, saying nothing.
The room fell into dead silence. No one dared breathe top loudly.
The servants were all shaken.
They’d thought this new madam was just a young, naive girl. Clearly, they had been wrong.
If nothing else, her commanding presence was undeniable–there was even a faint echu of Mr. Nero’s own sharp edge.

Fine. I’ll give you one chance. I won’t pursue it further this time.” Claudia finally spoke after a long pause, her tone mild. “But if there’s a next time, being kicked out of Blossom Park will be the least of your problems.”
Mandy nearly collapsed in relief. “Thank you, Madam!”
But she didn’t take the warning seriously.
Claudia stood up.
There’s no way I’d make Nero step in and get caught between me and Il’endy
Letting Mandy off this once means nothing. I’ll deal with her another way.
As she passed Mandy, she added calmly, “Your bonus for the next few months is canceled. You don’t mind, right?”
Mandy’s face stiffened. She forced a smile. “No, Madam…”
But inside, she was furious.
The bonuses at Blossom Park were more generous than the salary itself. She’d borrowed money, counting on those bonuses to pay it back…
Outside, Raine pulled Mandy aside.
“Don’t worry. This happened because of me. I’ll cover your lost bonus,” Raine said softly.
“Raine, you’re the best,” Mandy said, touched–forgetting completely that she’d tampered with the flowers for Raine in the first place.

“We’re friends,” Raine smiled. “But let’s be honest–Claudia’s petty. She may have let it go for now because my mo her to, but she’ll definitely find a way to drive you out later.”
Mandy’s face changed.
Seeing her reaction, Raine sighed. “You worked so hard to land this job. Pulled all those strings. It’d be such a shame to lose it…
Mandy’s expression flickered–then turned vicious. “Then let’s make sure she’s the one who gets kicked out first!”
Raine smiled faintly.
As for the flowers–Claudia never mentioned it to Nero. He had enough on his plate. Something this small didn’t deserve his
Fattention.
She salvaged what was left of the bouquet and began picking out the intact roses to press into a book.
That’s when she realized–she didn’t have a book.
All her old ones were still at the Cloud family’s house, and the rest were left at her dorm.
So, she ran to knock on Nero’s study door.
Simon opened it and, catching on, politely stepped aside.
“Mr. Nero, Madam is here.”
“What is it?” Nero looked up from his work.
Claudia tucked her hands behind her back.
Do you have any books you don’t need?” she asked sweetly “Can I borrow a fow?”
