Claudia lifted her eyes to look over, feeling a sense of confirmation.
She’d wondered why Mandy would have the nerve to destroy the jade pendant given to Nero by the old lady. She wouldn’t believe Raine hadn’t played a role behind the scenes.
As she thought this, the old lady’s gaze suddenly fell upon her.
“This must be the young lady from the Cloud family? She certainly is
is pretty.
Her tone held a note of surprise. When she’d first brought up the verbal engagement with the Cloud family, it had been purely out of desperation. At the time, she’d thought Faye’s daughter wouldn’t be too bad.
Yet soon afterward, she’d learned about Claudia’s background, which was as different from her mother as night and day-
It wasn’t just that she had poor grades. If it was only a lack of talent, that would be forgivable. But constantly skipping classes indicated a problem with her attitude. She’d barely attended school, only appearing for exams. And if that wasn’t enough, she repeatedly ranked first in her grade despite never studying–wasn’t she worried people would figure out she was cheating?
Luckily, her stepsister had excellent character and grades and frequently pleaded for Claudia, preventing her from facing consequences at school.
And later, when she’d seen photos of Claudia attending various events, dressed outrageously, the old lady had nearly fainted
in shock.
She’d even considered canceling the engagement altogether, but before she could act, Henry had quickly sent his daughter to Blossom Park.
Yesterday, she’d called Nero to test the waters, and to her amazement, Nero seemed to have a good impression of the young woman. She couldn’t help but wonder if Nero’s taste was simply different from other people’s, explaining why he’d disliked. all the previous girls she’d introduced.
Since she’d already planned to visit, when Raine came over today, she’d seized the opportunity to come see Claudia herself.
But what she saw was entirely different from her expectations-
Smart, lively, eye–catchingly beautiful, and even daring enough to act spoiled toward Nerol
Unaware of the complexity in the old lady’s heart, Claudia adopted the respectful attitude of a younger generation, gently and generously responding. “Yes, Grandma, my name is Claudia. Please just call me Claudia.”
The old lady nodded, hesitating slightly before speaking again. “Let’s put aside your past and never mention it again. But now” that you’re Nero’s wife, you should learn to behave accordingly, especially with generosity.”
Claudia paused, momentarily stunned,
Seeing her being reprimanded, Raine secretly curled her lips in satisfaction.
“Take Mandy’s case earlier as an example. Your final punishment wasn’t wrong, but yesterday, she only took a few flowers from you. If they’d been fresh, that would be one thing, but from what I heard, they were nearly wilted. Even if she hadn’t taken them, you’d have thrown them away. Punishing her several months bonus over that seems excessive”
Claudia opened her mouth to speak, but before any words came out, her hand resting unconsciously on the armrest was suddenly covered by another hand.
It was a broad palm, castly enveloping her smaller hand, providing reassurance and silently signaling her not to speak.
Claudia felt as if she’d been burned, and the grievance in her heart vanished instantly.
Yet strangely, she also felt slightly disappointed. Staring at Nero’s handsome profile, she quietly sulked to herself. He barely touched my hand before letting go. Hurit even une secund.

“Those weren’t just ordinary flowers,” Nero explained on her behalf. “I gave them to her, and Claudia kept them carefully for days. Eventually, she made them into bookmarks, Stealing them wasn’t a trivial matter.
The old lady fell silent.
An explanation was fine–but why did she suddenly feel like she’d been flaunted love at?
Was her Nero even capable of saying something this affectionate?
Surprised and suspicious, the old lady couldn’t resist glancing at Claudia again.
Or maybe the previous girls just weren’t attractive enough…?
Feeling the gaze, Claudia became self–conscious. “Grandma, is something wrong?
“Oh… it’s nothing. Well, if that’s the case, Nero’s wife, you handled it quite well.” Claudia blinked.
Nero’s wife?
This title felt a bit awkward, making her cheeks flush slightly as she glanced at Nero.
He raised his eyes immediately, his dark gaze locking onto hers. “What’s wrong?”
Nothing!”
The old lady didn’t live at Blossom Park. Nero was sensitive about his illness, reluctant to let family witness his vulnerability. Understanding her grandson’s pride, the old lady gave him space, visiting only occasionally.
Usually, she’d arrive filled with anxiety and leave just as worried. But this time, she’d been pleasantly surprised.
As she prepared to leave, her gaze toward Claudia grew noticeably kinder.
Raine was practically grinding her teeth in anger. While escorting the old lady out, she couldn’t resist complaining quietly, ” She must’ve convinced Mr. Nero. He even dared to talk back to you today!”
Ye: the old lady just smiled warmly. “Talk back? What talk back? Man thrilled Nero is finally acting lively again!”
Raine faltered, “But Claudia’s so arrogant
The old lady waved a dismissive hand. Her voice remained gentle, but it held a subtle pride-
