Chapter 15
Nathan’s face grew even colder. His voice was flat, merciless. “A life–saving favor? Sure, she saved me once. Now, I can barely stand the thought of it–it just makes me sick.”
He gave a look to his bodyguards, and without hesitation, they dragged the clueless girl away.}]
Sarah’s eyes filled with despair. It felt like she was suffocating, her lungs aching for air, her throat burning raw, as if she were being sliced from the inside.
Just as she started to black out–her vision going fuzzy, her eyes rolling back–Nathan suddenly let go.
But before she could even gasp for breath, he grabbed her again and slammed her against the wall.
She collapsed in the comer, limp as a broken doll.

Pain shot up her back. She hacked up blood, her coughs coming so hard it felt like her chest might rip apart. Tears streamed down her face, pooling on the cold floor.
Nathan didn’t flinch. There wasn’t even a flicker of pity in his eyes–just icy indifference.}
“Sarah, whatever I owed you, that’s over.“}
“I’m not going to let you die, but don’t think you’re getting off easy. You’ll pay for every single thing you did. If it weren’t for you, Julia would never have left me. I regret ever letting you save me.”
His grip tightened on her jaw, his words dripping with venom.
Sarah spat out blood, her heart sinking. She shook her head desperately, falling to her knees in front of him. “Nathan, you’re wrong, I swear I never touched Julia! It was my friends. They acted on their own, I had nothing to do with it!“}
“If you want to blame someone, blame them! They’re the ones who did all those awful things!”
She pointed at her friends, her hands trembling.
Her friends‘ faces went pale. None of them expected Sarah to throw them under the bus so quickly.
If she was going to betray them, why should they stay loyal?}
One after another, the girls started spilling Sarah’s secrets.
“Mr. Haskins, every tirne Sarah ‘attempted‘ suicide, it was all planned. She made sure someone would find her just in time so you’d come running.”
“That’s right! And she sent Julia all those photos and videos of you two together, just to get under her skin.”
On Julia’s birthday, Sarah told us to mess with her. We almost went too far–it was all because Sarah told us to!” The confessions kept coming, each one piling on top of the last, until there was nothing left for Sarah to hide behind. Her face was as white as paper. She looked at Nathan, devastated, her lips moving but no words coming out. Finally, she managed a feeble, broken, “It’s not true… it’s not…“>
Nathan was shaking with rage, barely able to hold himself back.

He couldn’t believe the woman he’d cared for had been so cruel–and worse, that he’d been used to hurt Julia.
His eyes burned. He wanted nothing more than to destroy Sarah and everyone else involved. But not yet. Not before they suffered. Not before they paid.
He forced himself to breathe, to keep his anger in check.
“Take them all,” he said coldly. “Lock them in the snake room. However much Julia suffered, they’ll pay for it a thousand times over.” The room fell dead silent.
“No–please, Nathan, I’m begging you!” Sarah clung to his leg, sobbing, her face wet with tears. “I’ll die in there–I swear I’ll die!” He kicked her away without a second thought, his voice dark and final. “Don’t worry. As long as I.say so, you won’t die. Not yet.”
The bodyguards came in, dragging the women out, ignoring theeams.
In the snake room, the floor was crawling with all kinds of snakes–some harmless, some just dangerous enough. There wasn’t even a spot left to stand.
