“Miss Ava!” Cecille’s voice, tight with panic, cut through my thoughts. For three long hours, Fabio’s words had been replaying in my head, each one a dark little worry. I sighed, the air feeling heavy, “Yes, Cecille?”

A bad feeling settled in my stomach as I stood up. Walking outside felt like stepping into a nightmare. Suddenly, the cold. hard press of a gun was against my head. I flinched back, and Hailey smiled, but her eyes were cold. “Oh, there you are, Miss Ava,” she said softly, her voice dangerous. “I heard you touched something that wasn’t yours.”
I stared at her, a mix of shock and anger rising. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Hailey’s smile didn’t waver as she pointed the gun towards my staff and then to Cecille, who stood frozen with terror. “You know I can pull this trigger if you don’t come with me,” she said, “And one of them will die.”
JA shiver of fear ran down my spine. I’d always known Hailey was ambitious, but this cold cruelty surprised me. She gestured to two large men who appeared beside her. Take her to the van. Then, her gaze swept over everyone, a clear threat in her eyes. “And don’t even think about telling anyone. Or else… your boss will die!
As they led me away, the gun a constant pressure against my head, a terrifying thought took hold.
I sat stiffly in the back of the van and finally found my voice. “Do you even realize that I’m under the Don’s protection? Anyone who threatens me will have to face him! He’s your fiancé-”
“Exactly! He’s my fiancé!” she snapped, her voice sharp with fury as she buckled her seatbelt. “And you dared to try and take him away from me!”
“And killing me is the best way to handle that?” I asked in disbelief.
She scoffed, a harsh, humorless sound. “Yes. Why would I bother letting you live when I can just get rid of you right now?” Then, she barked at the driver, “Drive!”
Before I could react, a sharp prick stabbed into my neck. My eyes widened in shock and a surge of panic. She was like a viper, striking without warning. I clutched at my neck, my voice trembling “What are you doing?!”
In inere seconds, a heavy drowsiness began to pull me under. My vision blurred, my eyelids growing heavy. Hailey leaned in close, a chilling smile playing on her lips. “Sleep well…” she murmured, her voice a silken threat. “It’s going to be a long, long ride… The darkness claimed me before I could answer.
My body felt heavy as I woke up in a dark, abandoned, and dirty place. My heart pounded as soon as I realized my situation. Now that I was finally far from everyone, I could try to save myself and keep them from getting hurt. I immediately tried to move my hands together since they were tied behind the chair.
I couldn’t help but moan in pain because the ropes were too tight and digging into my skin. Then, sweat dripped from my forehead. Damn it. What kind of place was this? Was it some kind of hellhole?
“Oh, hey there… The familiar voice of the woman cut through the air.
A deep breath hitched in my throat, and I swallowed hard as I saw the gun in her hand. She casually placed it on the table beside her. Then, to my utter surprise, she walked towards me, opened the window, and gestured to someone outside. My blood ran cold as I realized they were going to put me out there.
Panic seized me, a raw terror erupting in a scream. “What the fuck are you doing?!”
Hailey simply smiled, a sickeningly sweet expression that sent shivers down my spine. “Giving you the best death… of course.”
1 gasped, a choked sound escaping my lips as one of her men grabbed me. My heart hammered against my ribs as they began to secure a rope around my body. The horrifying realization dawned on me they were going to hang me out the window before finally letting go.

“Wait! Please!” 1 pleaded, my voice trembling.
“Isn’t it so thrilling to die like this?” Hailey murmured a soft laugh that sounded utterly deranged.

I glanced down, and a wave of nausea washed over me. My body felt numb with fear. Heights were my absolute terror, and we were on some impossibly high floor. One more push and I would plummet to my death.
“Are you crazy?!” I yelled at her, my voice raw with desperation.
Her eyes flickered with a strange intensity. “Crazy in love with someone you had an affair with. Fabio is mine, and you–being in my way… you’re only taking him away from me.” She paused, a thoughtful look crossing her face. “That’s why I want you to
die.”
1 couldn’t believe this was how it would end. But if this were my last moment, I wouldn’t go quietly. A sudden, almost hysterical laugh bubbled up from my chest. It was a pathetic way to die at the hands of this sweet, crazy woman. “You’re a fucking crazy woman!” I spat out, the fear momentarily overshadowed by a surge of anger. “He already told you he doesn’t want you, and yet you keep pushing yourself! It only makes me believe that you’re a pathetic psychopath!”
Her expression shifted, the sweetness replaced by a look of genuine shock. “Aren’t you scared to die now?” she asked, a hint of crankiness in her voice. “I don’t like it when I see my toy not scared anymore… the fun isn’t interesting anymore.”
She lunged at me, trying to shove me out the window, but desperation fueled my reaction. I used my legs to hook around her, dragging her with me. Her eyes widened in shock, and she screamed. “Let go of me!”
Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside. I heard voices – the three brothers, then Hailey’s father, and others who put down. Hailey’s men
“Hailey! Stop!” her father’s voice boomed.
Hailey scoffed, ignoring him. She reached for a knife on the table, intent on cutting the rope, but I held on tight, pulling her with me. There was no way I was going to die alone!
Then, my gaze locked onto Fabio. He was running towards another floor, trying to reach me from below. My eyes widened as he grabbed my wrist, his grip firm. But Hailey was still clinging to my feet. Slowly, her grip weakened. Tears streamed down. her face, different from her earlier manic joy. Fear finally seemed to grip her. Then, with a choked sob, she lost her hold and let go of my leg and she screamed, “N–NO!
My eyes widened, a scream building in my throat, but Fabio’s voice cut through my panic. “Ava… eyes on me…”
