Chapter 30
Ava’s POV
My breath hitched in my throat, coming in ragged gasps. Even held securely in Fabio’s arms, pure panic flew over me. Soft gasps escaped my lips, tears streaming down my face like a relentless river. The terror of dying, the horrifying thought that this might be my last breath, consumed me. I clung to Fabio, my arms wrapped tightly around him, burying my face in his chest as heart–wrenching sobs wracked my body. He held me just as fiercely, a solid wall of safety, and whispered soothingly. “It’s okay… I’m here… I’m here.”
Hailey’s father ran outside, looking very worried about his daughter. He shouted for help as he picked her up, saying. “She’s still breathing! We need to take her to the hospital”
Our organization has its own hospital that only members can go to. It used to be named after the leader, but Fabio changed it to The Foundation Hospital
Luciano looked at Fabio and me quickly, then looked down. He seemed embarrassed about what happened but also very worried about his daughter.
I flinched, turning my head away from the sight of so much blood. It instantly dragged me back, the vivid memories of my father and brother dying replaying in my mind with brutal clarity. Suddenly. Fabio’s hand gently covered my eyes. “It’s not your fault, he murmured softly. “Now, I want you to calm down… it’s just blood. Ava. Just blood.”
Fabio gently placed me in the back seat of the car. Without a word to me, he turned to Dante and instructed. Take her to the mansion and keep an eye on her. Also, call the psychologist….
Psychologist? That word jolted me. I didn’t need any therapist! But even though I wanted to protest, my tongue felt heavy and useless in my mouth. The shock still held me captive, and my hands trembled uncontrollably. The horrifying sensation of being dangled high above the window was still vivid in my mind, a chilling echo that resonated through my entire body.
Dante and Diego looked so quiet as they entered the car. They glanced at me, but no words came out of their mouths. It’s just that the situation made them lose their words, but the look on their faces seemed more like… worry!
When we arrived at the Moretti mansion, Dante stepped out of the car and helped me walk because I was still trembling and in shock. He managed to ask, “I’m sorry for what happened. Do you want a glass of water!”
Diego walked with us in the hallway and said, “Maybe a whiskey is better for her, she’s nervous.”
Dante chuckled with sarcasm. “Do you think a glass of whiskey can fix her from shaking?” Then he glanced at me. “Hey, smart mouth, why aren’t you saying anything? A glass of water or a bottle of alcohol?”
Seriously! These guys aren’t helping me with anything. Such lunatics.
I let go of Dante’s arm and walked towards the kitchen without looking at either of them. I opened the fridge, grabbed a glass, and filled it with water. Dante and Diego watched as I quickly drank two glasses, then I let out a soft breath, followed by a quiet curse under my breath, Fuck.”
Then I looked at them, my voice barely a whisper. “D–Do you think.” I stopped, and those two just waited, their eyes on me. “Do you think she’ll live? She tried to hold onto my leg, but she fell..”
Diego answered, his tone so casual it was like he was discussing what to have for dinner. “Why are you so worried about her? She’s the one who puts you in danger. If she lives, she’ll be punished. If she dies, well, too bad for her.”
“She fell really badly. There was blood everywhere. I think… maybe she broke some bones, or she could even end up unable to move her legs.” I rubbed my head, feeling awful. “Ugh, I feel so bad for her. None of this would have happened if she had just left Fabio alone.” I sighed. “I don’t understand why every woman wants Fabio so much. What’s so special about him? 1 just don’t get

a small smile. “Coming from the person Fabio just saved from being seriously hurt…”
“Well, yes, I’m thankful for what Fabio did, I said, nodding.
Diego shrugged, acting like it was no big deal. “We have good genes. Women want us. It’s not our fault that one crazy woman can fall so deeply in love with one of us that she’d even die.”
Darite laughed a little. “You kissed my brother this morning. That’s what made the crazy woman so angry that she did

something terrible.
“It was just a kiss…..
Dante replied, his eyes serious now. “No, it wasn’t your fault. But my brother. yes, Every time Hailey tries to kiss him, he always pushes her away. That’s why she got so mad when she saw the video. She was so jealous that Fabio didn’t push you away at all. I think my brother likes you… His voice changed, becoming a little teasing but also a bit dangerous, “But be careful. This is just the beginning or maybe a warning to you. Falling in love with a Moretti and being his girl can lead into very dangerous situations, the kind where even death gets involved

Diego clicked his tongue. “Dante, cut it out. You’re spooking her. She just nearly died, and now you’re going on like that again.”
Dante held out his hand. “Come on. I’ll take you to your room.”
“No need. It’s the same room I used before, right?” I asked.
He nodded, and they both watched me walk upstairs, letting out heavy sighs as I went.
I closed the door behind me and leaned against it, a shaky breath escaping my lips. I walked to the window, pulled the curtains shut, and then turned on the bedside lamp. As the soft light filled the room, tears started to slide down my checks again.
The memory of almost falling of almost dying hit me hard. Thank God. Thank Fabio.
Anything, I would do anything to repay him. He didn’t just pull me back; he yanked me from the edge of nothingness. One wrong step, one less second, and I’d be… gone. And he was there. Fabio. He saved me. So yeah, anything. If he ever looked at me, really looked at me, and asked for something, anything at all, it would be his.
