The family doctor hesitated for a moment, glanced at Drake, then slowly said:
“Mr. Sullivan, there’s no need to worry. The baby is doing fine. It’s just… you should refrain from any sexual activity for now.”
With that, the doctor made a smooth exit, maintaining an impeccable level of professionalism.
Penelope was so embarrassed she buried her face under the blanket.
Drake coughed awkwardly, his face flushed a deep red.
“Eloise, listen to me…”

I let out a sarcastic laugh, slinging my bag over my shoulder as I prepared to leave.
“Such a pure and innocent childhood sweetheart love story, huh.”
Drake grabbed my wrist.
“Eloise, I really do love you. This is all just a huge misunderstanding. I’m not blaming you anymore. We can forget everything and start over. The divorce papers don’t mean anything–I can take back what I said.”

yanked my hand away and wiped it, disgusted.
“God, no! I feel filthy just touching you. Trash like you belongs with Miss Green.“”
Drake’s expression twisted in anger.

“Eloise, don’t push your luck. Without the Sullivan family, where do you think you’ll go? You’ll regret this!”
I walked off coolly, waving my hand.
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We’ll see who regrets it.”
After all, the real drama was just beginning.
The next few days were surprisingly peaceful. I took the chance to enjoy my last bit of freedom and quiet. Once I took that seat, there wouldn’t be any more easy days like this.
But Drake wasn’t nearly as lucky. Without me, the Sullivan Group was in total chaos. The power–hungry shareholders, no longer held in check by my presence, started making their moves.

The worst part? Evidence of Drake stealing research from the Wilder Group ended up in the hands of the city regulators. The medial caught wind of it and blew it up. Sullivan Group’s stock prices plummeted day after day.
Later on, I don’t know where he found some scapegoat to take the fall. He paid off the media to clean up his image and used a celebrity dating scandal to distract the public. The crisis passed, just like that.
Then Drake called me. His voice sounded completely drained.
“Eloise… it was you who leaked the evidence, wasn’t it? You’re getting back at me.”
I let out a hoarse, bitter laugh.

Drake sighed.
“Eloise, I don’t want to fight with you. I know you’re doing all this because you’re hurt, because you still love me. I’m willing to look past it, even take back the divorce.”
“If you just behave from now on, once the baby’s a little older, I could let you come back to the Sullivan Group. I’d assign you an easy role–something simple, to pass the time.”
I closed my eyes for a second, resisting the urge to curse.
“Mr. Sullivan, unless it’s absolutely necessary, don’t contact me again.”
Drake’s tone sharpened.

“You probably don’t have anywhere to stay right now, huh? Just stay at the Emerald Crest villa for now. Use the time to reflect on yourself. You’re coming with me to the return gala of Thomas family ‘s heiress the day after tomorrow. I’ll pick you up.”
