Gabriel wanted to find me. He searched everywhere I might have gone, but couldn’t find me. All my contact information had been changed.
Finally, he found me at the airport, waiting to board a flight.
He knelt before me, begging for forgiveness: “Aria Stone, I was wrong. I was fooled by that bitch Lily. I didn’t mean to kill Jack. I just wanted to teach him well. I love you, and I loved him too. I never wanted to hurt you.”
“I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. Aria, can you forgive me one more time?”
I looked at him mockingly:
Forgive you? Only if Jack can come back to life, and the child that never had a chance to be born can return to my womb.”
“Forgive you? Only If Jack can come back to life, and the child that never had a chance to be born can return to my womb.”
“Gabriel Curtis, do you think that’s possible?”
Gabriel clutched my pant leg tightly, pleading pitifully: “Aria, we can have more children. As many as you want. Remember how happy we used to be? I learned sign language for you. I swear I’ll treat you well. I’ll never be so foolish again.”
I stepped back expressionlessly, avoiding his tears from falling on my shoes:
“Gabriel Curtis, save your tears. You’re crying too early.”
“The reason I didn’t speak was because I was born with cursed words. Whatever I said would often come true. To avoid unintentionally hurting others and bearing that karma, I chose to stop speaking.”
