Chapter 5
“No, no, no!”
Hearing this, Nicholas got scared. He quickly crawled to my feet like a dog, clutching my legs and begging pathetically.
“Briella, I’m sorry, I was wrong. I’ll give you the necklace back!”
After saying that, he immediately yanked the necklace off Anya’s neck and held it out to me with both hands, looking totally devoted, ignoring Anya’s screams.
“Briella, I’m giving it back. I’m so sorry, I was wrong.”
I snatched the necklace from his hand, gripping it tight in my palm. Finally, I had something that was mine back from him.
“Nicholas, you can’t do this to me!” Anya cried, trying to hug Nicholas again, but he pushed her away.
“I’ve given the necklace back to you. Please don’t report me.”
Nicholas looked at me, pleading. I just stared at him coldly and removed his hand from my leg.
“Briella, we’re married. Husband and wife shouldn’t fight each other. We should stand by each other!”
I watched his little show quietly, not answering.
“Briella, you heartless woman, didn’t you say you loved me the most? Can you really stand to see me go to jail?”

I found it amusing when he said that.
I said. “Nicholas, the moment your heart went to Anya, we were done!”
“It’s not over! Briella, I still love you,” he insisted.
“Stop pretending, Nicholas. You don’t love me–you’re just scared of going to jail!”
He saw that playing on feelings wasn’t working, so he shifted his attention to the company.
“Briella, I can’t go to jail. Taymor Group still needs me!” he pleaded.
I smiled wryly, feeling a shiver down my spine.
“Needs you for what? Needs you to sign papers, is that it?”
I’ve given my all to this company, only to end up with an empty title like vice chairman. I have no shares and no real power to make decisions. Every document I approve still needs Nicholas’s signature to be official.
Basically, I’m just an employee who works incredibly hard.
He continued, “Without me, you won’t be able to make any decisions at Taymor Group, and the company will be doomed.”
I looked at his panicked face and just smiled.
Nicholas is such a hypocrite.
He previously risked the company’s billion–dollar deals for Anya, leaving it to struggle.
Now, for his own benefit, he’s suddenly concerned about the company again.

“If it’s over, then it’s over. I’m tired, and I can’t run the business anymore,” I calmly stated.
“Briella, you’re so ungrateful! How can you betray my parents after all they’ve done for you?” Nicholas shouted, his voice filled with accusation.
Seeing him start to make trouble again, I frowned.
Nicholas always only cared about himself, no matter what.
Right after that, Edward’s assistant tossed a stack of papers at Nicholas’s face.
Edward crossed his arms, staring at him with a nasty look.
“It doesn’t just have to be about bigamy. You stole a huge amount of the company’s money. Do you really think the shareholders and employees will ignore that?”
As soon as he finished, Nicholas’s phone started buzzing like crazy.
The phone calls were all full of questions for him.
Nicholas was absolutely terrified by the questions. When he finally snapped out of it, he lunged at Edward like a crazy person.
“It’s you! This is all your fault! You told them to do this!”
Edward kicked him away, then punched him a few more times until Nicholas calmed down.
“Nicholas, you did some gross stuff you don’t want anyone to know about. Do you honestly think that’s possible?”
Blood flowed out from the sides of Nicholas’s mouth. He bent down and squeezed my hand tightly as if I were his only hope.

“Briella, please, you have to help me! You must have a solution! I didn’t mean it, I know I messed up!”
I pulled my hand away and slapped him hard,
“Help you? Are you serious? You should be glad I’m not making things worse for you!”
After hearing my words, Nicholas collapsed to the floor, utterly defeated -a broken, lifeless mess.
