Logan scoffed, thinking it was a joke in poor
taste. “What kind of nonsense is this? I’m

“I’m not joking!” Lewis shrieked, his voice
hoarse with pain. “She didn’t just leave with a
man. She had him beat me up! Both my arms
are gone! You have to come back!”

clearly rattled. “Sir… you’d better come back
and see for yourself.”
His voice held no doubt, only panic.
Logan’s chest tightened with unease. Still, he
tried to brush it off.

No. Cecilia couldn’t possibly leave him. She
must be upset. That’s all it was.
She was just angry. He’d coax her a little, and
she’d come back to him like always.
“I’m on my way.”
“Logan!” Leah clung to him, tears streaming
down her face. “It must’ve been my sister.
She did this to me! Please… save me. Save
our baby!”

looked like a war zone.
The housekeeper was frozen in place,
panicked. Broken light fixtures lay shattered
across the floor. Footsteps trampled through
the mess, and among them, blood, and even
a foul puddle, traces of Lewis’s beating.

Logan’s heart dropped.

He called my phone, no signal.
He bolted upstairs to the master bedroom.

Only then did Logan remember he was the
one who told them to give Leah the master bedroom. He’d had them move my things out
himself.
But where had I gone?
At that moment, the horrifying truth hit him.
Since the day Leah moved in, he hadn’t even
known which room I was staying in.

He checked room after room, but there
wasn’t a single trace of Cecilia ever living
there.
She loved collecting mugs and had once
crafted a pair of matching couple cups. Now,
all he found were broken pieces in the trash.
The recipes she had carefully written out to
cook for him, as well as the essential oils
she’d bought to give him massages, were
gone. Even the scent of her favorite home
fragrance had disappeared from the air.

“No!” The housekeeper quickly waved his
hands, terrified he’d become the target of

“I found it in the downstairs room she had
been staying in. It was the only thing left. I
think. I think she meant to leave it behind for
you.”

Logan clenched the USB tightly.
The sharp edges dug into his palm, and the
sting of pain finally snapped him back to his
senses.
He took it to the study.
As he sat down, his knee slammed hard into
the desk. He nearly cried out from the pain.
“Damn!” he cursed, then snapped at the
housekeeper.
