Chapter 21
I turned toward his voice, muscles tensing. There he was, sprawled across a bench by the corner locker, one arm casually draped over the backrest. He looked so relaxed, like he was in his own bedroom–like he hadn’t just scared the hell out of me.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I demanded, my voice sharper than I intended, trying to mask the slight tremor in my nerves.
Kaiden shrugged, a lazy smirk tugging at his lips. He stretched his arms behind his head, his hazel eyes gleaming with mischief. “Just observing.” he drawled, his voice smooth like a charm. “Didn’t expect to see someone so… dedicated towards their new title.”
He stood up with fluid grace, each step slow but purposeful, like a predator savoring the moment. “Also…” He stepped closer, his presence dangerously magnetic.
“You told me to stay away from your room,” he continued, his voice dropping to a near whisper as he halted just inches from me. His scent—a mix of fresh vanilla, spicy cardamom and something royally darker, richer–filled the space between us, making it harder to think clearly, “You didn’t say anything about the locker room.”
Leaning in, Kaiden’s lips curved into a teasing smile as he tilted his head slightly, bringing his mouth closer to my ear. The warmth of his breath brushed against my skin, sending an involuntary shiver down my spine. “I checked the bench,” he murmured, his voice laced with mock seriousness. “It’s not that comfortable, but don’t worry…” His hand drifted to the locker behind me, the soft clink of his ring against the metal making the moment feel sharper, more intimate.
“If you wanna do it here,” he whispered, his voice dropping to a tantalizing drawl as his hazel eyes flicked to mine, a challenge dancing in their depths, “I can hold you in my arms while pressing your back to your locker… making you take in every inch like a good little stepsister.”
His words hung in the air like smoke, invasive, unholy and impossible to ignore, as my breath caught in my throat.
Gathering all my courage and fighting against that unholy pull he had over me, I shoved him hard, my palms connecting with his chest. “In. Your. Dreams,” I said firmly, my voice steady despite the chaos roaring in my chest.
Kaiden stumbled back a step but recovered almost instantly, his smirk widening as if I had just set a challenge he couldn’t resist. “Dreams… hmm,” he drawled, the corner of his mouth quirking mischievously. “Looks like you’re crazy about wet dreams.” He tilted his head slightly, his eyes narrowing with playful intensity. “By the way, does this mean…” He leaned in closer, lowering his voice to a suggestive purr. “You’re giving me permission to fuck you in my dreams?”
That smirk of his, like he’d just landed the most flawless punchline, fueled something reckless inside me. “Okay, so you wanna do this, huh?” I shot back, lifting my chin defiantly. My gaze locked onto his, no fear, no hesitation—just raw, unfiltered challenge.
I inhaled deeply, nodding as I stepped forward, closing the gap between us. “Fine. Let’s do it.” Without waiting for a response, I grabbed his arm and shoved him against the locker with a force that startled even me. The metal rattled loudly in the otherwise silent room, the sound echoing like a declaration.
“What the fuck, Introv-”
“Shushhh!” I interrupted, pressing my index finger against his lips, his perfect lips, silencing him. My heart raced, the boldness of my actions sending adrenaline surging through me. “Don’t,” I murmured, my voice dropping to a sultry whisper as I leaned in slightly.
I smiled, a seductively devilish curl of my lips. “Don’t ruin the mood.”
Kaiden’s expression shifted, his usual cocky demeanor faltering for just a fraction of a second.
“What happened?” I asked, my tone taunting as I tilted my head. “Kaiden Sterwalt, practically the man–whore of the whole West Sterlingo, is now feeling shy to kiss his stepsister?” I insulted him. I don’t know what has gotten into me, making such a bold dare, but now that I have started it, I better end it well.
His jaw clenched at my words, his hazel eyes darkening as they bore into mine.
I should try my best to stay away from Kaiden because I don’t know what happens to me when he is around. I forget everything I have endured in my past and end up being the rawest and most daring version of myself. Maybe it’s because he keeps taunting me as ‘Introvert, and I desperately want to prove him wrong by doing these foolish things. Or maybe it’s just my subconscious attempt to let out the most shameful part of me. Whatever it is, it’s must be the most dangerous trait of mine–one that could work against me if I ever ended up as a participant in a real–life survival game.
With a sudden, fluid motion, Kaiden flipped our positions, so quick and seamless that my mind couldn’t process what had just happened. The cold metal of the locker pressed against my back as his hand wrapped firmly around my neck, his touch deliberate–not painful, but enough to send a shiver down my spine.
“That sharp mouth of yours,” he growled, his voice low and dangerously smooth, as his grip tightened slightly, just enough to remind me who had the upper hand. His hazel eyes burned into mine, a warning and a challenge rolled into one. “That’s gonna put you in trouble someday”
“About someday…” I shot back, my lips curling into a daring, lopsided grin. “We’ll think when that someday comes.” My voice was steady, confident -a stark contrast to the frantic drumbeat of my heart. “What about now? Am I getting in trouble ‘now‘?”

My own words stunned me. Was this really me? When had I started flirting with the edge of danger so recklessly?
“Yes…” he murmured, the single word dripping with sweet and sour warning. He leaned in closer, the space between us vanishing until our lips were just a whisper apart.
My pulse quickened as our eyes locked. We were staring deeply into each other’s eyes, as if we were speaking through them, as if we were unlocking each other’s hearts with the keys hidden in our gazes.
“You’re about to get into a lot of trouble,” he breathed, the words hanging in the air like a prophecy.
Oh my god! Is he going to kiss me like he did before? Would it be okay if I let him? I mean… we’re not actual siblings, right?
My hands clenched into fists at my sides, my heart racing wildly while my nose took in his intoxicating fragrance and my lips ached for his touch. I closed my eyes, waiting for the feeling I dreaded most–his lips on mine.
No. I’m not that kind of girl who loves stepsibling porn. Infact, never liked it. God promise!
I blame my last night’s dream for my siblingless behaviour. Dreams influence me so much, too much. If I see something in a dream, I desperately crave to experience it in real life.
What did I dream about last night? Nah… it’s nothing I’m proud of. So, let’s just leave it at that. No need to get into details.
Unfortunately–and fortunately–Kaiden’s lips didn’t meet mine. Instead, his warm breath ghosted against my earlobe, sending an involuntary shiver racing down my spine. “I don’t mind you having sex dreams about me,” he murmured, his voice low and laced with amusement, “but you better explain that to your mom.”
My eyes snapped open, my heart pounding as confusion collided with dread. “Mom? But why?” I blurted out, my voice pitching higher with panic. My hands, still braced against the locker, clenched into fists as I struggled to piece together what he meant. “W–wait a minute! H–how did you know I had a sex dream about you last night?”
“Not just me,” he replied, slipping his phone out of his pocket with an infuriatingly casual motion, as though he wasn’t setting my entire world on fire. His lips twitched into a smug grin that made my blood boil. “Everyone knows it.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” My chest tightened as heat crawled up my neck, the beginnings of mortification stirring in the pit of my stomach.
Kaiden didn’t respond right away. Instead, he leaned against the locker beside me, the faintest trace of satisfaction playing across his features. “Here,” he said, angling the phone toward me with an exaggeratedly slow gesture.
My heart stopped as my gaze locked on the screen. There it was, Queen Bee’s latest post in bold, mocking letters.
“Let’s read about The Lucky Introvert’s SEX DREAM, featuring Kaiden Sterwalt.”
I clicked on the post and began to read.
As I read on, Kaiden tilted his head, clearly enjoying the effect it was having on me. His hazel eyes gleamed with unrestrained delight, as if he was savoring every moment of my impending meltdown.
“What the fuck?” I gasped, the phone nearly slipping from my trembling fingers. Mortification clawed at my insides as I scrolled down, each word so raw and unfiltered that it hit me like a punch to the gut. My palms grew clammy, and my pulse thundered in my ears as I fought the urge to
scream.
