I couldn’t explain it.
So I said, “Although Lia’s words sounded absurd, I feared the worst. That’s why I warned the driver. Normally, I wouldn’t forget something like a pen–I always double–check everything. But after what happened the night before, I was disoriented. I didn’t even think to check my backpack before leaving.“N
That was the most logical and careful explanation I could offer.M
But I had forgotten one critical detail.N
“Is that so?” the officer said, his tone shifting. “You’re telling me that someone who, after getting their hands on a phone, didn’t call the police… but instead sent distress messages to four popular bloggers–each time carefully urging them to coordinate with the local police without alerting law enforcement in Woodstock or even Windsor Country–also remembered to erase all digital traces and throw the phone down a sewer?”
He leaned closer, eyes narrowing.
“You, who managed to think so meticulously while on the run… forgot to bring a pen because you were panicking?“}
He didn’t wait for me to answer.
“And here’s the most important part: in your messages to those bloggers, you provided precise addresses of several underground black markets. Yet, according to our investigation, the people you’ve interacted with–Austin and Lia–are just small–timers. They don’t have access to that kind of information. In fact, even when they enter or exit the auction house, they’re transported in locked gontainers, blindfolded, in complete darkness. So tell me how did you know these addresses?“}
“Camila,” he said firmly, “don’t lie to us. It won’t end well for you.”
And there it was.
What I had feared was finally happening.
My fists clenched and unclenched again and again.“]
In the end, I lowered my head in resignation.“]
“Sir… I can’t explain it,” I whispered. “Because some things… might go beyond what science can explain.”
“Oh?” He arched a brow. “Then tell me what you know.”“]
I had no choice. I took a deep breath and began recounting everything–my rebirth, my memories, the events I had lived once
before.”
I told him I knew exactly when the rocks would fall. When the supercars would spiral out of control. These things had already happened to me once, in another life.
And after I died, I had seen even more.“]
1
i knew the black–market chain didn’t have one boss–it had four. Each controlled a different line of the operation. Aside from the scar–faced man known as Lucas, there were three others: Anthony, Zayn, and Leo.”
They had their own internal communication system. Every phone connected to the industrial chain in Woodstock was tracked within that private network–accessible only to the four of them.”
I thought they’d laugh in my face. That they’d dismiss me as delusional.”
So I tried my best to prove it. I described the four men’s appearances in detail–every scar, every physical trait burned into my memory.”
They didn’t laugh.
But they didn’t say much either.”
One of them simply closed his notebook and stood up.
“Alright,” he said calmly, “we’ll have a psychological expert evaluate you later.”
“For your safety,” another added, “don’t talk about this with anyone else. Only with us.”
I sat there, stunned.”
“You… believe me?” I asked hesitantly.
The officer who had been gathering his things paused, then gave me a faint, almost kind smile.N
“No. We’re just keeping an open mind.”
“This case is massive–and high–profile. It’s going to take a long time to investigate. As of now, we haven’t found any direct ties between you and the trafficking ring, or any evidence of collusion.”
“But if we find any later…” his smile faded, “you’ll still be arrested.”
I nodded slowly, feeling a strange mix of relief and dread.
The officer who had taken notes leaned forward slightly, voice softer now.
“You know,” he said, “even though we police officers are trained to believe in science, we’ve seen enough to admit there are things in this world that science can’t explain.“”
12:56 AM
“But to prevent public panic… those things are never made public.”
