Chad was too stubborn to admit defeat in front of Stacy, so he shifted all the blame onto me.
They created a group chat and pulled me in, where they went crazy @-ing me with insults:
“Fat pig, how do you have the nerve to watch the competition? Look at yourself!”
“You’re not still trying to get back together with Chad, are you?”
“Where do you get the audacity to compare yourself to Goddess Valkyrie? Do you know how beautiful she is?”
“Why isn’t the fat pig talking? Are you scared?”
“I bet she’s cowering behind her screen right now! You guys post Goddess Valkyrie’s photos and let this fat pig see how huge the gap is between her and Valkyrie!”
As soon as those words were spoken, someone posted several casual photos.
The
group erupted in another round of fawning.
Chad stared at these photos, his heart racing. Though he’d seen them countless times, they never failed to stir new emotions in him.

Swept up in this surge of passion, Chad sent Stacy a WhatsApp message: “Valkyrie, even though lost the match, I can’t live without you. Will you be my girlfficiend?”

Stacy in the audience saw this message and went wild with joy! She immediately replied: “Chad, I actually like you too.”
Both of them held their phones, smiling with complete satisfaction.
Chad was about to continue typing to ask her out when music started playing. The cosplayers were making their entrance.
With Valkyrie already in his heart, Chad wasn’t interesteddit this anymore, so he didn’t look up.
However, his teammates behind him exclaimed:
“Holy shit, isn’t that Xi Shi actually Goddess Valkyrie? She really came to the competition!”
“She looks even more beautiful in person than in photos!”
“Why didn’t the goddess tell us she was coming?”
“She probably wanted to surprise us!”
Chad froze. Ifadint Valkyrie just finished texting him on WhatsApp??

He looked up in disbelief and saw on stage, under the spotlight, a fair–skinned, gorgeous Xi Shi walking the runway. And that face was exactly the one he’d stared at in countless photos, the person he’d been dreaming about day and night!
