Chapter 6 Going to Find Xavier
At that moment, Eliana stood in the airport hall, staring at her dimmed. phone screen. Finally, she let out a sigh of relief.
After years of being overshadowed by the Hogan family, she finally felt
free.
Watching the passengers bustling around, she wondered if she felt sad about leaving Steelville.
Maybe a little, but mostly, she felt relieved.
She used to think Xavier didn’t love her. Now it finally hit her that he had someone else in his heart.
Better to let go quickly than drag it out.
Eliana went straight to the check–in counter. She had booked a flight to Plymbourne.
She left her family and lived in Steelville under the radar.
If it weren’t for the Plymbourne Medical Exhibition project and Beckham’s insistence on seeing her and Xavier together, she wouldn’t have signed the project with the Hogan Group.
But Xavier had been ungrateful, sending her on this trip alone.
Now, it was time for her to go
back.
“Hello, miss. This ticket is locked. We can’t check you in right now,” the first–class attendant politely said.
“Locked?” Eliana was taken aback. “It’s impossible. Could you check

again?”
Η
“Did you book this ticket with a company account? There might have been a refund. Could you show me your original passport?”
It suddenly dawned on Eliana that her accounts were all handled by the Hogan Group.
Also, her original passport had been taken by HR for some registration.
Eliana was at a loss. She had only wanted to leave this heart–breaking city as soon as possible but hadn’t thought things through.
“Sorry, I’ll call to check.” She stepped aside and called the HR Department, but the call didn’t go through. The number had been deactivated.
Her scalp went numb. She had forgotten her phone number was also managed by the Hogan Group.
This name felt like a haunting ghost.
After leaving the airport, Eliana took a taxi straight to the Hogan Edifice.
It started to drizzle outside the car window. Soon, the skyscrapers came. into view.
She handed the driver 20 dollars and dragged her luggage into the high- tech lobby.
Fortunately, the news of her resignation hadn’t spread yet. The rain had made her hair stick to her messy face, but after a few face scans, she finally got into the elevator.
She pressed the button for the 12th floor, where the HR Department was.
“Oh, Eliana, you look like you’ve had a rough day!” The HR head, Jackson Reese, was a sycophant and a sissy.

Since Xavier didn’t treat Eliana with much respect, Jackson just bossed her around all the time.
“Where’s my passport?” Eliana cut to the chase.
Jackson shrugged. “Passport? You’ve come at a bad time. Micah just took it. How would I know where it is?”
Eliana was stunned.
She should have guessed this would happen.
Xavier was a decisive and authoritative figure in the business world. In Steelville, he was known for his tough, ruthless demeanor.
He wasn’t about to let anyone question his authority.
Eliana turned around and dragged her luggage to find Xavier. Suddenly, Jackson called out, his tone either provoking or malicious. “It doesn’t matter if you got fired. Just watch your attitude. There’s a very important. meeting on the top floor right now. And I heard that Mr. Hogan’s fiancée is here.”
