Chapter 16 A Superwoman
In the first–class cabin of the plane.
Xavier took out the two rings he had asked to be tossed away.
After a few seconds of hesitation, he put the thicker one on his finger. It was the first time he had worn it, and it fit his finger perfectly as if custom–measured., which surprised him a lot.
During the past three years, he had always refused to wear it, using work
as an excuse.
If it were any other woman, they would have made a big scene about it.
But not Eliana. She had always been so good–tempered, sensible, and indulgent.
Little did he know that after they divorced, she left so resolutely, leaving the rings behind.

He frowned while silently twisting the ring on

He wondered. “Eliana, you can be either gentle and obedient or resolute and decisive.
“Which is the real you?”
Soon, the plane arrived at Plymbourne.
He headed straight to the CEO’s office on the top floor of the Gallagher Group.
Squinting, Kelton checked on his computer, picked up the project. proposal to confirm again, and then put down the document, saying

seriously, “Dude, I’ve confirmed it again. The Hogan Group fits the participation criteria perfectly.”
Xavier arched an eyebrow.
Sure enough, it was someone from Apollo Group who was trying to mess with him.
Kelton asked, “Did you cross Trystan? He’s the CEO of Apollo Group. The record shows he vetoed your right to participate.”
On Xavier’s sullen face, his emotions were unfathomable.
He said. “I’ve never seen him. My secretary has been handling everything related to this exhibition, and it showed in the report that everything was fine. All I needed to do was sign.”
“Easy then. Where’s your secretary? She can continue handling it,” Kelton twisted a pen with the tips of his fingers, saying in a devil–may–care
manner.
Xavier couldn’t help but lower his head to hide the sense of loss in his eyes. “She quit.”
Kelton nodded, realizing something. “She’s so scheming. She took the resources with her when quitting and left you suffering such a great loss.
“She signed the Non–Compete Agreement when she joined, right? Sue her.”
He made it sound like Eliana was such a vile woman.
Xavier’s expression darkened utterly.
Noticing the look on his face, Micah smiled awkwardly and chimed in just in time, “Mr. Gallagher, the woman you’re talking about is Mr. Hogan’s wife.”

Kelton covered his mouth and exclaimed, “Dude, seriously? You found yourself a superwoman. She’s your secretary as well as your wife?”
Xavier couldn’t be bothered to say anything.
He was friends with Kelton and knew Kelton tended to be tactless when speaking. He was already used to it.
Besides, Kelton was right.
Eliana was indeed outstanding. The way she handled work was no different from a robot.
His heart sank.
He realized that for all this time, he had been holding her to the standards. of a perfect secretary while forgetting she was also his wife.
Kelton stood up, patted Xavier’s shoulder, and said with a teasing smile, “When did you get married? I had no idea. Care to introduce her to me?”
Though the two were friends, they rarely saw each other because their family businesses were in different regions.
Also, Xavier and Eliana had a secret marriage without an eye–catching wedding.
Only Xavier’s few friends in the country, including Brayan Duffy, knew about it. They all looked down on Eliana because of her humble family background and thought Xavier could do way better. So, they had never mentioned to anyone that Xavier was married, all treating him as an unmarried man.
“They got a divorce not a while ago.”
Micah blurted out and then realized what he had said.
Sensing Xavier’s sharp gaze, he lowered his head immediately and

secretly scolded himself for being so big–mouthed.
Kelton was choked up at what Micah said, swallowing back his teasing words.
“It’s fine, dude. Marriage is what kills love. You did the right thing.”
He sighed as if personally related.
“What makes you say that?” Xavier asked.
Of course, Kelton would tell him–they were friends. “I don’t wanna get married!
“My dad has been forcing me to marry the pimply girl whose family owns. Apollo Group. She was abroad before, so I could dodge it, but she’s come back recently, and he starts to nag me every day again!
“He’s even decided on a date and urges me to come home to marry her.
“It’s driving me crazy!”
