EPISODE 270
I stared at him in disbelief, mouth slightly open, heart hammering in my chest like it was trying to break free.
Pregnant. I was pregnant. With Ulysses’s child. A life was growing inside me, and I hadn’t even known.
But my joy was instantly drowned by panic.

But my joy was instantly drowned by panic.!!
“The baby…” I whispered, my hand flying instinctively to my stomach. “Is the baby okay? After what happened, after everything I went through-
Ulysses leaned forward immediately, his voice calming but firm.
“Yes. The doctor had already checked. Everything’s normal. The baby’s heartbeat is strong. You’re safe. You’re both safe.”
Relief hit me like a wave, and tears blurred my vision again. I hadn’t even realized how much fear I was carrying, how tightly it had wrapped around my chest like a vice until now, I was safe. My child was safe.!!
“Thank the moon…” I choked out a breath, my body sagging against the hospital bed as I let the truth settle in. A baby. Our baby.!!
“I’m happy,” I murmured, the words breaking free between soft sobs. “I’m really happy.”
Ulysses’s face softened even more, something rarely seen in the man known for his composed and aloof nature.
“Me too,” he said, his thumb brushing gently over my knuckles. “I’ve never been this happy in my entire life.“”
We sat there, fingers intertwined, the silence between us filled with something peaceful and whole. And then the door opened.
We both turned.}
“Grandma?” Ulysses said, startled. “What are you doing here?“”
Grandma Adela entered with slow but deliberate steps. Her cane tapped softly on the hospital floor, her sharp eyes landing directly
on me.
“I heard the news,” she said, voice heavy with meaning. “All of it.“}
Tinstinctively straightened. I braced myself for judgment, for her to call me unfit or shameful. Instead, her expression softened.”
“I knew you were carrying his child,” she said. “That alone made me reconsider. But outside, I also heard the story. That it was you who saved him as a child.”
I glanced at Ulysses, who gave a silent nod of confirmation.”
“I can see now,” she continued, “that this is not just some fleeting romance. You’re bound by something deeper than blood. You’ve already proven your worth, even before this child. So, I approve of the wedding.“}
My breath caught. Ulysses’s jaw slackened slightly. She gave him a firm look.}}
“And I will keep your mother and that Catelyn girl in line. No one will ruin what you two have, not under my watch. I’ve lived long enough to know what true love looks like.”
I covered my mouth, tears streaming freely. Ulysses’s hand tightened around mine.
“Thank you,” I whispered, overwhelmed with gratitude.”
Ulysses, stoic as always, blinked fast and looked down as if hiding the shine in his eyes.”
Days passed in a blur.§
The wedding plans moved fast. We decided not to wait too long, not because we were afraid, but because we both wanted this union to be on our own terms. Before long, the house was filled with florists, tailors, and event coordinators.
And then, during a routine check–up, we got another surprise.
“Twins,” the doctor said with a proud smile. “You’re having twins.“”
My mouth fell open. I turned to Ulysses, who was just as speechless. He even looked dazed, as if he had just been struck by lightning.”
Grandma Adela’s reaction was immediate.
“Twins?! This is a blessing from the Moon Goddess herself!” she declared. She started bringing gifts every other day, handcrafted cribs, heirloom garments, enchanted anklets for protection. The house began to look more like a nursery showroom.”
In the midst of all this joy, news came from the outside world, dark news that made me shiver.}
Lilith had been put in jail. Ulysses had kept it from me at first, not wanting to ruin the fragile peace I was beginning to build. But eventually, I found out.”
“She’s in custody,” he confirmed one evening. “Illegal detainment and colluding with Lucas for kidnapping you. She won’t get out any time soon.“”
Then Ulysses frowned. “Lucas managed to escape the law but…“W
There was a hint of dangerous fury in his eyes. A week later, the news about Lucas surprised the country. His company had plummeted into debt. Investors pulled out. Lawsuits piled up.
“He jumped,” Ulysses said quietly, sitting beside me in bed one night. “From the roof of their main office. They tried to save him, but…. it was too late.“}
My heart twisted, not for love lost, but for the tragedy of a man consumed by his own cruelty and ambition. I said nothing for a long while. I just sat there, my hands on my belly.”

My heart twisted, not for love lost, but for the tragedy of a man consumed by his own cruelty and ambition. I said nothing for a long while. I just sat there, my hands on my belly!
Finally, the wedding day arrived $
The sun was high, casting warm golden light over the trees, and everything was peaceful. The estate had been transformed. Rows of white roses lined the path, and soft music floated through the air.
I stood in front of the mirror in my bridal gown, made of ivory silk with faint silver threads that shimmered like moonlight. My veil fell delicately across my shoulders, and my hair was pinned in soft waves.
“You look breathtaking,” Grandma Adela said as she entered the room. “No one will ever question your place again.”
I smiled, emotions swirling in my chest.
Moments later, I stepped into the aisle. The crowd stood. Music swelled.
And there he was, Ulysses, at the altar, dressed in black ceremonial robes lined with silver. His hair was neatly styled, his posture proud, but the moment his eyes met mine, his face transformed.}
He smiled.
With every step I took, it felt like my entire life was unfolding before me. The pain, the heartache, the fear, and now, the promise of something new.
When I reached him, he reached out his hand. I took it without hesitation.”
The priest began the ceremony. His words blurred in my ears until finally, we reached the vows.”
Ulysses looked at me, his voice low but unwavering.
“Selene, you saved me once, when I was just a boy, lost and starving. I’ve never forgotten that moment. And even now, after all the power I’ve earned and the victories I’ve gained, the greatest thing in my life is you.“!!
He took a breath.”
“I vow to stand by you in light and shadow. I vow to protect our children, to shield your heart, to honor the woman who taught me what love really means.“”
Tears streamed down my face.}
Then it was my turn.
“Ulysses,” I whispered. “I didn’t expect to fall in love again. I didn’t expect to be saved, not after everything. But you… you saw me. You never made me feel less. You made me feel like I belonged.“”
! swallowed past the lump in my throat.”
“I vow to build a home with you, not just on walls and roofs, but in memories and trust. I vow to raise our children with love and laughter. I vow to be yours, always.“}
The priest raised his hands in blessing.
“You may seal your vows,” he said.”
And as Ulysses cupped my face and pressed his lips to mine, I knew, this was the beginning of everything I had ever dared to hope
for.
