Meanwhile, after seeing Freya off, Louis got into his car but didn’t start the engine right away. Instead, he called Kendrick again. Kendrick had been fast asleep.
“Hello? Louis? What is it?” Kendrick groaned. “It’s way too early for this. I didn’t get to bed until four. Can’t you let me sleep a little longer!”
“Freya’s already on her way to the set. Did you give the crew a heads–up?”

“Louis, you’ve already brought this up twice. This is the third time! I already talked to Mr. Zane. You don’t have to worry at all. Sure, she’s not part of our agency, but we’ve worked together for years. Besides, I even mentioned both you and Freya Given how far she’s come in the industry, she’s not stupid, she’ll know to take care of Freya”

“Louis, I even asked Mr. Zane to keep an eye on her in her day–to–day life. What more do you want? If you’re still so worried, why even let Freya go in the first place? Sure, actors are bound to face some hardships on set, but she’s not even an actress. She’s a screenwriter–an assistant screenwriter, at that. What could she possibly have to suffer through?”
“If you’ve really taken care of everything, then that’s it. Go back to sleep. Louis said before hanging up
Louis had never been part of the entertainment industry, nor had he done any business related to it. But he’d heard a thing or two over the years–especially when Kendrick was just starting out in the field, which had forced him to listen to quite a bit. All he wanted now was to make it clear how much he valued Freya. That way, Kendrick would take things more seriously. It wasn’t that he couldn’t step in himself; it was just that he wasn’t exactly in a good position right now. His influence wasn’t what it used to be, and crossing over into another industry to exert pressure was even harder. Unless it was absolutely necessary, there was no point in making a big fuss. Getting Kendrick to warn the production team in advance and prevent awkward situations was far better than trying to fix things after the fact

Since Louis was so anxious about Freya–and considering it was fter first time working as a screenwriter–he figured it was probably fine, but just to be safe, he called Zane again. After all, Freya was easy on the eyes, and if some brain–dead fool didn’t know any better and tried something with her, that would be a problem.
He asked Zane for the actor list and skimmed through it. Kendrick’s brow furrowed.
One of the supporting male actors had a pretty had reputation, and the male lead was a freshly debuted pretty boy. Kendrick didn’t know what kind of personality he had. He called one of his own guys.
“Hey, Derrick–look into two people for me. I want their full profiles within the hour.”
An hour later, Kendrick had the files Derrick sent over–and they gave him a headache.
The supporting actor didn’t even need to go there. He’d cheated on multiple women while dating his ex–girlfriend, using the fact that their relationship wasn’t public to toy with female students‘ feelings.

“They’ve probably just grown close over time. Love makes people see what they want, right?” Kendrick replied. “Even if Jasper goes down, there are so many replacements. As long as he plays nice and knows his place, there’s nothing wrong with letting him make a little money in the industry.
