Chapter 33
Dean
My mind was working overtime, and I could see Aleck’s mind working too.
“Okay, we’ll investigate it. Come on, it’s almost midnight; you need to sleep. I picked her up off the bed and gave her a shower. I dressed her in one of Aleck’s shirts and put her to bed. After I grabbed a shower, we got into bed with her. I could tell she was trying to figure it out
“Stop thinking about it and get some shut–eye,” I said, kissing her forehead. After I was sure she was asleep, 1 drifted off to sleep. I was somewhere between wake and sleep when I heard it, then I heard it again, and then I was fully awake. I sat up instantly, Aleck sat up and looked at me. Then we heard the gunshots. It sounded like there was a fucking shootout inside the house.

There was a hidden room behind the closet panel Aleck opened the door, and I put her down to sit and looked at her. “We’ll be back. I promise you. You’ll be safe in here. She looked like she wanted to revolt at the idea of leaving her alone.
“We’ll be back, baby girl, we promise,” Aleck said, looking at her. She nodded slightly. I smiled at her and kissed her forehead and left. When Aleck walked out, we locked the door, sealing her in the room. We made our way over to the door. There were no longer any sounds of gunshots. Aleck stood to the side. The minute I opened the door, the gun was pointed in Diego’s face. Elet out a sigh of relief.
“I could have shot you in the face,” I said, putting the gun doen.
“Sorry, boss. 1 was about to knock when you opened the door. Can the young miss hear us?”
“No. Aleck, go get her out.”
1 looked at Diego “What happened?”
“I think they came looking for her. Marcella was the one that save them, and she called me. She was heading to the kitchen when she overheard two of them around the corner saying. This is where they live. The friends were here, so the sust be here to Find her and bring her out; don’t kill her.” She said she hid and called me.”
“How many of them were there?” I asked, making sure she didn’t hear.

“Maybe it would be in everyone’s best interest if I left, just disappeared.”
“What did you say? Do you want our, princess?” I asked her, my heart beating too fucking fast. Please say no, please say no, princess. My mind and heart were in turmoil because she remained quiet, and I felt my heart breaking because if she wasn’t here, then what was the point of having all this? I looked at
Aleck, and I could see it un his face too. If she left us again, this would destroy us more than the first time.
“No,” she said quietly. I walked to her and stooped before her. “Just give us some time, and we’ll figure it out. I promise you, Layla.” ⠀

“Then if we can’t and you want to disappear, then we’ll let you,” I said, looking at Aleck, and I could see in his eyes that was not something he wanted, but we had no choice but to let her go if she wanted out. We had both agreed on it in the beginning.

I left her with Aleck and headed downstairs. When I walked out to the front of the house, Mac already had them here. Three g Hfe–threatening or anything and five were hogtied. I looked at them, and two of them looked really young.

“We don’t know who. We just received the order via email. That’s the truth,” one of the younger ones said.

Layla
1 lay in bed, unable to sleep. Aleck was beside me, holding ese, I could see the flashing lights, and I knew it was the police. I didn’t want to leave them, but this was not going to end anytime soon. I never found out who it was, and they can’t find any clues,
“I can hear you thinking, baby girl, stop. Trust us to handle it, please.” I turned around in his arms and looked at him. “What happens if something Eke this happens again, and this time, I die? Then what? You’re all going to regret it for the rest of your lives, and then you’ll wish you had let me go.”
He sat up and looked at me. “Don’t ever say that. You’re not going to die; nothing is going to happen to you. Please don’t think about it for now.”
“Okay,” I said quietly. He lay next to me and held me. I tried shutting bf my mind. I knew when Dean came back to bed and let sleep consume me.
When my eyes opened, the sun was now rising. I sat up and rubbed my legs.
“Morning”
mom door opened, and Dean walked in. “Morning. Princess.”
“Time for a shower and breakfast,” he said, picking me up off the bed and walking into the shower. Throughout my shower, I saw the look in his eyes; he was tempted. I fisted his hair, and he looked at me and smiled. “I’m not facking you, Layla, not yet.”
“Please.” I whispered.
“Princess, you’re
not
better. I’m not going to hurt you, Layla, Stop tempting me.”
After my
shower and breakfast, they left me with Marcella to do some exercises and went out. They wouldn’t say where they were going, and I figured it was the police station. During lunch, Marcella sat with me.
“Do you think our relationship is weird?” I asked her. I knew she knew it mild be hard to miss, especially if you’re living with us. She smiled and looked at
“Weurd, no. Strange, no. Amusing, yes. This life is complicated. Most people spend their entire lives without knowing what actual love is, and you have it, double the amount of love. What’s wrong with that?”
“People don’t accept relationships like ours,” I said quietly.
“Ah, people that don’t accept relationships or anything else for that matter and always seem to have an issue with it are the ones that are jealous and wish they had it instead.”
“It was my friends that did this to me. One of them is in love with Aleck, and the other is in love with Dean, and they think I stole them away from them.”
“Jesus, has Mr. Cavanaugh alerted the police of this?”
I have no idea. Those two can get into trouble, especially with the other four friends. They probably want to teach them a lesson,” I said with a sigh.
“Then you need to be more careful. As long as everyone around you knows who to look out for, then you should be safe,” she said, drinking her coffee. Maybe she was right, but my stalker was another issue.
