Chapter 3
Standing at the doorstep of my house, I looked at the red notebook in my hand.
Took a deep breath.
Just now, Hezekiah hurriedly left the city hall as if he was attending an important government bidding and couldn’t be absent. He needs to hurry and catch up now.
As he was leaving, he looked at me with deep eyes.
“Don’t worry, the wedding will remain unchanged tomorrow.”
1nodded and when I sent him a message, I explained the cause and effect to him clearly.
When I was holding my phone, getting ready to call the driver.
Just as a phone call came in,
It was Vincent, who answered with his usual gentle voice
“Reina, I’m sorry.
I thought he was apologizing for leaving me at the city hall and canceling the wedding
Just as I was about to answer, Yaritza’s sweet voice came through.
“Reina, I’m sorry, I, I accidentally ruined your wedding dress.”
“I’m really sorry, Reina.”
Next came Vincent’s gentle coaxing.
“It’s okay, don’t cry. Reina is not someone who cares so much.”
Then he opened his mouth and said to me.
“Reina, since tomorrow’s wedding has been canceled, I will accompany you another day to choose a better wedding dress.”
I didn’t want to talk anymore, feeling tired and powerless.
Without asking why the two of them were not in the hospital but in her bridal house.
Not asking Vincent if he had forgotten that wedding dress we designed together in college, which held great significance.
I stopped asking anything, it didn’t make sense anymore.
I was already married, right?
The days I spent with Vincent, I cannot deny, were happy, even blissful during my time in college.
I also do not deny Vincent’s sincerity towards me, eyes do not lie.
But that was sincerely not just for me alone.
Since Yaritza appeared, I was no longer his favorite,
I still remember a gathering
Because 1 am not good at drinking, I got a little tipsy after drinking a few glasses and went to the restroom.
I came back just in time to hear that drunken remark.
“Vincent, I, I will not marry anyone but you in this lifetime.”
As soon as those words were spoken, there was a moment of silence in the private room.
Everyone knew that Vincent was already engaged, so friends changed the topic jokingly.
And I stood at the door, holding my breath, waiting for Vincent’s answer,
The result was greeted with a gentle reminder.
“I went to get a bowl of hangover soup. Yarliza will have a headache later, so take care of her, okay?”
I couldn’t say what I felt at that time.
Disappointed? Or does it not matter
it not matter anymore.
I was also spoiled and grew up in a pampered way since I was young. The biggest sadness and grievance in my life were all caused by Vincent.
Compromising and giving in for so long, now thinking about it, it’s already insane.
It was not just my liking alone.
Not the only favorite liked.
I didn’t want it.
“It’s okay, since it’s broken, let’s just forget about it and throw it away.”
I spoke in a calm and emotionlesstone.
Vincent was taken aback instead, without feeling jealous, without complaining, without the expected argument.
Vincent felt a wave of panic surge in his heart, even though he should have felt relieved.
“Is there anything else?”
I asked, “I don’t want to continue having meaningless conversations.”
Vincent opened his mouth and then fell silent.
“It’s all right now.
Just as I was about to hang up the phone, Yaritza’s voice faintly came through
“Vincent, can you see if you can tidy up these clothes for me?”
I hung up the phone expressionlessly.
Vincent hurriedly checked his phone when he heard a sound, looking at the disconnected screen, feeling uneasy.
He looked up with an unhappy expression and glanced at Yaritza.
“You don’t have to tidy up my clothes for me.”
“I will bring it to you and once I have settled it, I will come back.”
Yaritza’s eyes welled up with tears in an instant,
“Vincent, I only had you, and now you’re also abandoning me, don’t you care about me anymore?”
Vincent’s eyes softened.
“I won’t abandon you, but Yaritza, you need to learn to be independent. Even if I send you over, I am getting married too.”
“If it weren’t for your injury being urgent, I would have married your sister–In–law tomorrow.”
A touch of sadness crossed Yaritza’s eyes, and then she became determined.
