Riley turned

Benjamin in panic. “My Lord, I don’t want her to take it back. Just… give her the money.”
Face dark with fury, Benjamin ordered the butler to bring a chest of gold, which he threw at my feet. “Rowena, I never thought a noblewoman could act so disgracefully over wealth.”
Lilian stepped forward, glaring.

are you to talk about disgrace? You conspired with your mistress behind closed doors, and she got pregnant .That’s the real shame!”

I glanced at the one hundred thousand silver coins and smiled faintly. “Very well. This ends the engagement between the Donovan family and Earl Kingsley. But there’s one more matter: since I’m not marrying, I’ll be taking my dowry back.”
Riley screamed, “Why? That
dowry came with me into the Kingsley estate! You want to snatch it back?”
I looked at her as if she were a joke. “That dowry–those 120 chests–was prepared by my birth mother since I was a child. Your dowry is still back at Donovan Manor. Didn’t your mother prepare one for you? Go fetch that instead.”
Riley threw herself in front of me.
- e. “No!” Then, realizing her outburst, she forced a smile. “We’re sisters. What difference does it make whose dowry it is? Why don’t you just use mine?”
Lilian gave a scornful laugh. “You really think you’re clever, don’t you? Rowena’s mother was of noble birth. When she passed, all her treasures were left to Rowena. And your mother? The daughter of a mere knight. She brought in only eighteen chests when she married Mr. Donovan.
“First you steal your sister’s fiancé, and now her dowry? Do you have no shame? Is this how your mother raised you?”
“No wonder you act like a thief, just like her mother.”
Benjamin glared at us. “Enough. Take the dowry if you must. But the porters who moved it this morning are gone. Just the three of you and a few maids how do you plan to haul it away?”
He laughed coldly, eyeing the two maids behind me. “You have one hour. This is the Kingsley estate, not a market stall.”
Just then, a servant ran in, breathless and frantic. “My Lord! General Callahan has arrived–with a full escort. He says he’s here
Everyone froze. “General Callahan?”
Ryan entered with a commanding presence and a full squad behind him. He strode to my side and looked sharply at the Earl.

“No need for Lord Kingsley to worry. We’ll be taking my wife’s dowry now- it won’t take long. Not even a single thread will remain here.”
His men echoed in unison, “Yes, General!”
Lilian pulled out a list. “Follow me, everyone–take what’s on the inventory, and not a piece less!” She led her team toward the hall to recover every
chest.
Benjamin stared at me, stunned. “Did he just call you ‘my wife‘? Rowena?”
I stood beside Ryan and nodded. “Today was supposed to be the Donovan family’s wedding day. Riley stole the engagement and married you. That means the Donovan family now owes the Callahan family a marriage. I am willing to marry Ryan. This has nothing to do with you, does it?”
Riley, trying to look innocent, asked, “Sister, you always held yourself above others. You only met General Callahan once–how could you agree to marry him so quickly? Or… did you know each other beforehand?”
I retorted coldly, “Not everyone throws themselves at a man the moment they meet him. Not everyone covets what isn’t theirs.”
“Just because you’re that kind of woman doesn’t mean the rest of us are.”
“You-” Riley turned pale with fury but had no comeback.
Ryan’s men worked quickly. Over a hundred chests were hauled out of the manor in no time.
I pointed to the veil and crown on Riley’s head. “Those belonged to my mother. Take them off and gave them to me.”
“And that gown–she’s wearing mine. She impersonated me, and that wedding dress is rightfully mine.”
My maid and guard stepped forward without hesitation, beginning to strip the gown and jewels from her.
Riley’s eyes turned red with fury. “Rowena! You’ve gone too far How dare you humiliate me like this!”
I stood calmly and said, “You should never touch what isn’t yours. Didn’t your mother ever teach you that?”
