Chapter 6
Theodore looked up in surprise.
When he saw it was his old maid approaching, he looked confused.
“This isn’t your business.”
Zelda calmly took out a suicide note.
At the same time, the subordinates investigating Rachel’s case reported nervously, “Mr. Schmidt, Rachel died in a car accident seven years ago.
“The driver who caused it ran away but was caught by the police this month. He’s being questioned now..

Theodore’s eyes widened in shock as he stared at the suicide note.
Rachel was gone. If Hannah knew, why hadn’t she told him?
His throat tightened, and his eyes reddened.
“After seven years, this is all I get?”
After learning that Rachel was dead, Theodore didn’t feel sad at all.
Instead, one thought consumed him–Hannah had left and didn’t want him
anymore.
He couldn’t even bring himself to open the suicide note. Grabbing Zelda’s hand, he asked, “Did she have something else to tell me?”
Tears filled Zelda’s eyes. She pushed his hand away and snapped at him angrily, “Mr. Schmidt, have you forgotten all the terrible things you did over the past seven years?

“Mrs. Schmidt is kind–hearted and never forgets the small things I did for
her.
“But what about you? You brought other women home, hurt her, drugged her, and turned her into a laughingstock throughout Los Angeles.
“You don’t deserve her!”
Zelda took off her apron and threw it in Theodore’s face.
“I’ve worked hard all my life, and I’m done. I can’t serve you anymore. Find someone else!”
That suicide note hit Theodore like a slap, showing him all the awful things he’d done.
He snatched the car keys from his secretary without hesitation.
He refused to believe that Hannah, who had waited obediently for seven years, could just leave suddenly.
He thought she must be angry and wanted him to come after her.
With that hope, he stepped on the gas and sped home.
“Hannah, please stop hiding.
“Come out–I promise to treat you well from now on. Please come see
me.”
Only his voice echoed through the villa.
Theodore searched every room–the bedroom, kitchen, balcony, even the bathroom.
He had once forced Hannah to take drugs and admired her trembling body. Now, he searched everywhere, but he found no trace of her.

Chapter 6
The only evidence she had ever been there was a wedding photo.
The wind blew Rachel’s portrait aside, revealing Hannah’s pale, delicate
face.
Her eyes held an innocent purity, mixed with quiet determination and a stiff smile.
That was the moment he hated Hannah the most, but also when she looked the most beautiful.
Now, he had nothing left.
Theodore found all her private photos hidden in a secret compartment of his study.
There was also a surveillance video.
For seven years, those were the only things he had that connected him to Hannah.
He lay among the photos, desperate to feel close to her, and slowly opened the suicide note.
The letter was short, containing just a few lines and a spinning top.
But Theodore howled like a wild beast.
“Hannah, please don’t blame me. Theodore is a good man. If you’re carrying his child, you’ll have a happy life. Please take care of him for me and fulfill my wish. Seven years is the limit. Send me back home.
Goodbye.”
For seven years, Hannah endured his cruelty day and night without losing her calm. Was it just to repay Rachel’s kindness?
Then what was he? What was his belated love for her?

Frustrated, Theodore grabbed his hair and slammed his head against the wall.
But no physical pain could ease the ache inside.
He locked himself in a dark room, almost punishing himself, watching the surveillance footage again and again.
Every time he saw those disgusting men forcing themselves on Hannah, he felt a stronger urge to end his life.
What had he done in those seven years?
If he had been kinder, maybe Hannah wouldn’t have left.
With bloodshot eyes, he stormed out of the dark room and ordered, “Stop everything and go check Rachel’s body!”
Hannah would never abandon Rachel’s body.
That was his only chance to find her.
