“Aria Hayes, what do you think you’re doing?”
“Is this your way of fighting for my attention? You’d destroy me, the man who keeps you, even if it means my company goes bankrupt?”
I looked at the man I’d shared eight years with. He truly didn’t know me at all.
Blake flung me onto the bed with a harsh shove.
“This time, I expect you to be as compliant as you used to be.”
His words were laced with threat. Blake threw a vial of my father’s expensive imported medicine onto the bed. He was hinting that if I wasn’t ‘compliant, I’d lose my father.
Too late, Blake.
My father is already gone, and I am leaving too.
“Blake Sterling, I didn’t do this.”
“If you don’t believe me, you can have someone investigate. Finding the truth is simple for you.”
I sat upright, meeting his gaze directly.
Blake scoffed, as if I’d told the funniest joke.
“Aria Hayes, Skylar told me she only sent the video to you. She’s young, she doesn’t know any better, but you’re different. You know exactly how to manipulate public opinion, don’t you?”
“Those trending headlines, you play the media like a fiddle, don’t you?”
He looked at me with scorn.

Blake hadn’t doubted a single word Skylar said.
I knew no matter how I explained, he wouldn’t believe me.
“Blake Sterling, I know you won’t believe me. So, let’s just get a divorce.”
With my words, the room fell eerily silent. I sat motionless on the bed.
Blake stared at me for a long time. It was only when a few birds chirped outside the window that he spoke.
“Fine. I’ll have Mr. Davis draw up the divorce papers now.”
An hour later, the agreement was drafted. Blake quickly signed it and turned to leave.
Mr. Davis, looking worried, stepped forward, opening his mouth to say something, but Blake cut him off.
“She won’t sign it. She’s nothing without me.”
