Liam’s wedding still went ahead as planned, only the bride had changed to Chloe. This was mainly because his parents insisted, as many guests had already arrived. And with Chloe pregnant with Liam’s child, they had no choice but to continue the wedding.
Liam had a sour look on his face from the moment the pick–up procession began early that morning. He canceled all the ceremonies, just sitting blankly in the car, as if his soul had been sucked out of him. Chloe, meanwhile, came to the wedding car alone.
The wedding venue was grand, after all, the Hayes family cared about their reputation. But throughout the entire event, Liam kept his face turned away, silent. Chloe, standing beside him, could only force a bitter smile.
Just as the officiant was about to announce them as husband and wife, a man around 25 years old, holding a paternity test, rushed into the wedding hall. He shouted loudly, “Chloe! How could you be with your boss! You’re pregnant with my child, yet you’re marrying another man! You slut, I’m going to expose you! I won’t allow my child to take another man’s name!”

The scene immediately descended into chaos. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes were stunned, and Mrs. Hayes even fainted. Liam trembled uncontrollably at the sight of the glaring paternity test. But the man continued to provoke him.
“Liam, if you really like this woman, you can transfer me five million dollars. I’ll give you this woman, and this child too. Buy one, get one free, quite a deal, isn’t it?”
Liam was enraged and immediately started wrestling with the man. They were eventually separated with the help of friends and family. Liam’s forehead was cut, and blood streamed down. They called security to escort the man out, while Chloe, hiding in the corner, trembled.
Liam rushed over and grabbed her by the collar. “You wench! How dare you cheat on me! Get out! I never want to see you again! Give me back everything I bought you, and that villa in the suburbs!”
“Wait for my lawyer’s letter, you fraud!”
Chloe, like a deflated balloon, suddenly collapsed to the ground, screaming hysterically. “Liam Hayes, I’ve been with you for so many years! Don’t you have any feelings for me at all? Even if the baby isn’t yours, I’ve slept with you so many times, you should pay me for it, right? You won’t give me a single cent, are you trying to make me die?”
Chloe’s confession caused an uproar among everyone present. Clearly, she had been branded a slut and a prostitute. Liam didn’t even spare her a glance of pity, running out like a madman.
He kept calling my phone, muttering repeatedly, “Aurora, I’m sorry, I was wrong. I’m coming to find you. I won’t marry that wretched woman; she doesn’t love me at all.”
“Where are you? Can I come find you, please…”
Seeing these messages from him, I didn’t reply to a single one. He called, but I didn’t answer, instead blocking his number.
At that moment, Julian was holding my hand at the international airport. We had agreed that once we got our marriage license, he would take me traveling to clear my mind. Whenever I felt ready to get married, I’d just tell him, and he would prepare the wedding instantly.
The boarding announcement echoed through the hall. Julian took my hand, and we walked towards the boarding gate. Suddenly, a desperate shout came from behind.
“Aurora Hayes! Don’t leave!”
Julian and I turned around simultaneously. Liam was still wearing his wedding suit, his eyes bloodshot. I instinctively paused. He sped up, running towards me, reaching out as if to hug me. But Julian stepped in front of him.
“Aurora, where are you going? Please don’t leave! I know I betrayed you, I was a monster, but please, don’t leave me?”
“Do you know how much pain I’ve been in? I think about you every single moment. If you just give us one more chance, I’ll treat you so well for the rest of our lives..”
Julian simply gave him a disdainful look, pulling a marriage certificate from his pocket. He waved it in front of Liam, looking nonchalant. “Sorry, Liam, Aurora is my wife now.”
My eyes widened. I suddenly found it a bit funny, and also kind of endearing. Who carries their marriage certificate when they go traveling? Was Julian just trying to announce my status to everyone?
Seeing the red booklet, Liam’s mouth fell open in disbelief. “Aurora, you got married?”
He suddenly raised his voice, becoming agitated. “How could you get married? Didn’t you say you’d be with me forever, that you’d marry me? How could you marry someone else!”
I looked at him calmly, devoid of emotion. “Liam Hayes, how many times did I tell you over the past ten years that I wanted to marry you? But what about you? You always had some ridiculous excuse. Now that I’ve finally gotten my license with someone else, what are you pretending to be upset about?”
Julian checked his watch and took my hand. “Wife, let’s go. Our boarding time is here.”
I stopped arguing with Liam. Led by Julian, I walked straight towards the boarding gate. Behind me, Liam’s painful wails echoed, but I didn’t look back. Perhaps from the moment he cheated, I should have ended this absurd relationship.
