Chapter 6
“Wifey?”
Isaac’s eyes were glued to Austin’s hand supporting me, his voice suddenly sharp and demanding.
“Lori! You’d better explain what’s going on here!”
I replied, my patience wearing thin, “Is there really anything left to explain? We’ve already broken up–did you forget?”
Isaac’s face twisted with anger before he let out a cold, mocking laugh.
“A breakup, huh? Did I agree to that? Even if we are broken up, it’s only been a day and you’re already running off with a homewrecker? Lori, are you really that desperate? Do our five years together mean nothing to you?”
Vivian gasped dramatically from the side. “Oh my God! Lori, even if you’re mad at Isaac, you don’t have to be so shameless, do you? Aren’t you embarrassed to make such a spectacle of yourself?”
They were the ones who cheated first, yet somehow, I was the villain.
Not wanting to cause a bigger scene in public, I tried to pull Austin away.
But Vivian clearly wasn’t about to let things go.
She blocked our path, raising her voice for all to hear.
“I know you are rich and powerful, and you’re never short of men. But Isaac loves you so much–how could you treat him like this? You were the one who said it was over; Isaac never agreed! Now, I want you to

apologize to him!”
Isaac glared at me as if waiting for my explanation.
A crowd was gathering, people pointing and whispering, looking at Austin and me as if we were some scandalous couple.
My hand trembled as I clutched my sleeve.
Austin noticed my unease and murmured, “Don’t be afraid.”
He wasn’t exactly known for his patience, and up until now, he’d only held back because I’d silently begged him to.
But seeing me like this, he finally lost his temper.
He strode forward and landed a solid punch on Isaac’s face.
Caught off guard, Isaac crashed to the floor.
“Isaac!”
Vivian shrieked, throwing herself at him, sobbing.
“Lori, we just said a few words to you, and you let your new man hit him?”
Isaac wiped the blood from his mouth and tried to get up, but Austin kicked him down again.

Then Austin pulled out our marriage certificate and shoved it in Isaac’s face.
“Take a good look. Lori and I are legally married. If you insult us again, expect to hear from my lawyer.”
Isaac froze, reaching out to snatch the certificate.

Austin pulled it back with a cold smirk. “What’s wrong? Dr. Wilcox, don’t recognize a marriage certificate?”
“You can buy those online for a dime. You think I’d believe it?”
Isaac shot back, then glared at me. “Lori, get over here! Are you really going to keep embarrassing yourself with him?”
Suddenly, Vivian clutched her stomach and cried out in pain, “Isaac… my stomach hurts…”
Isaac rushed to her side in a panic.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Austin grabbed my hand and quickly steered me away from the crowd.
As we neared the exit of the mall, my nerves finally began to settle.
I glanced up and noticed the mall’s advertisement hotline displayed above. A sly smile tugged at my lips.
A few minutes later, every big screen in the mall began playing the intimate video Vivian had sent me.
Isaac managed to get the broadcast cut off quickly, but by then, the video was already spreading like wildfire online.
Within an hour, the internet had uncovered every detail about the two of them.
The scandal snowballed. Isaac tried desperately to contain it, but as soon as he buried one rumor, another would explode.
Soon enough, Isaac was suspended from both the hospital and the university, and Vivian was fired as well.
Eager netizens even uncovered that Vivian’s medical degree was from a

As I scrolled through the latest comments, I looked up at Austin, who was sipping his wine with lazy satisfaction.
“This helpful netizen who keeps leaking all the dirt–couldn’t be you, could it?”
He set down his glass with a careless smile.
‘I chased you for years before you finally said yes. He dares call me a homewrecker? I’ll remember that grudge for a lifetime.”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
Austin, with his refined, handsome looks, always had a bit of a rogue’s edge to his words.
No wonder I’d never taken him seriously when he used to chase after me.
