He froze, staring at me in shock. “What do you mean?”
Isneered. “You still want to have your cake and eat it, too? Have you no shame? Have you even once tried to break up with Scarlett this entire time?”
Seeing his face pale, I continued coolly, “A person is forever haunted by what they couldn’t have in their youth. You wrote those exact words yourself, on our wedding day. Of course, I’m not blaming you My own motives for marrying you weren’t exactly pure, after all. Since we’ve both been given a second chance, isn’t living a different life what you wanted?”

I kicked him lightly in the shin. “Get lost.”
I smoothed the wrinkled fabric of my dress. “You’ve got it wrong. This man is, at best, our current client. Other than being alumni, we have no relationship whatsoever.”
Shaffer’s face was thunderous, his usual composed expression completely shattered. “What is your relationship with him?”

I shot him a disgusted look. “You’re too old. In five years, your muscles will be sagging. Men are a depreciating asset. I have money and power; if I want someone, I’ll find a younger model.”
The smile froze on Damian’s face, replaced by a flash of indignant anger. “You’re looking down on me, Luna? Have you even tried me out before you complain?”
As Damian and I bickered and walked away, Shaffer’s expression turned black as night
