Edward’s breath hitched, and he froze in place.
He remained silent for a long time before he managed to force a faint smile.
“What are you talking about? Anthony was injured so badly, how could Melanie not have gotten on the ambulance!”
“She wouldn’t divorce me either. We were together for ten years, and she wouldn’t be willing to leave me!”
The assistant had a pale face, almost on the verge of crying.
“Mr. Matthews, I really didn’t lie to you!”
“I checked the surveillance footage, and someone had already bandaged Anthony before the ambulance arrived ”
“Mrs. Matthews took Anthony directly to the airport by rad and boarded the fastest flight to go abroad!”
He nervously handed the phone to Edward.
“This is the divorce agreement sent by Mrs. Matthews, you can tell just by taking a look!”
Edward snatched the phone and, after taking a quick glance, couldn’t stop trembling
In that divorce agreement, I chose to leave with a clean slate.
The only requirement was that he would never come to disturb me and Anthony.
Edward suddenly grabbed his assistant by the collar and yelled uncontrollably.
“Where did Melanie go, after all?”
The assistant shook his head in panic.
After Mrs. Matthews arrived at the airport, she changed her identification and boarded the plane. No one knew where she went.
Edward let go of his hand dejectedly, looking at him in confusion.
“How could Melanie leave me? She was so determined, does she really not want me to find her?”
“No, I just made the mistake that every man makes, she won’t not forgive me!”
“She must be angry at me for hitting Anthony today, deliberately wanting to punish me. But once I find her, she will forgive me, right?”
He swayed in his figure, almost unable to stand, and his voice was tinged with a slight tremor.
Both he and his assistant knew that this was just him deceiving himself.
“Yes, that must be it. Every time I used to make Melanie angry in the past, she would hide and make me find her. As long as I comforted her, she would come back!”
“I don’t care what method you use, find out Melanie’s whereabouts for me immediately, do you hear me?
He disregarded the fact that he was in the hospital and started screaming hysterically.
The assistant had never seen him so angry, and was scared, cowering in the corner.
