I laughed, a sound devoid of any warmth. “Is it? Compared to what you’ve done, what is this? I’m telling you, for every moment of pain my daughter suffered at your hands, you will pay with the rest of your lives.”
Gabriel, seeing the blade, paled. We just… we believed Rosalind’s lies and misunderstood Sophie! We can apologize! You don’t have to stab someone!”
Shane nodded frantically. And as for the whole ‘grooming us to be her husband‘ thing… if you just pay the auction house debt for us, we can forget the whole thing.”
I couldn’t believe it. Even now, they had the audacity to say such things.
1 pointed the dagger at Shane. 1 gave you food, shelter, a world–class education. And instead of gratitude, you want to ‘settle accounts‘ with me? Fine. If you want to be so precise, you can start by paying me back for every penny I spent on you for the last ten years!”
Just then, Rosalind stepped out from the side, her face a mask of indignation. She held up her phone. “I have a video of you assage
to jail!”
In the next second, the sound of sirens echoed in the distance.
him! And I’ve already called the police! You’re going
Lucas, clutching his bleeding shoulder, gritted his teeth through the pain. “Charlotte, I don’t want to make a scene. Just pay the money, and we can settle this privately.”
I looked calmly at the flashing blue lights approaching. “You called the police? What a coincidence. So did I. For what you did to my daughter. Not one of you is getting away.”
My assistant swiftly snatched the phone from Rosalind’s hand and deleted the video. Rosalind took a step forward, but shrank back under my glare.
Lucas finally panicked. He looked at the others and whispered, “How could she know…?”
Shane tried to act calm. “It’s impossible. Sophie would never risk her own reputation, she wouldn’t…”
He was right, I had been worried on the way back. I didn’t want this to be a shadow that followed my daughter for the rest of her life. But Sophie had been the one to reassure me. She said
wasn’t her fault, and she had nothing to be ashamed of. More than her reputation, she wanted to see evil punished. If she had to, she would just start a new life somewhere else.

And so, I stood there without fear.
An officer got out of the car. “Who is Charlotte Shaw?”
That’s me,” I said. “I’m the one who called.”
Only then did the three of them realize I wasn’t bluffing. They tried to run, but the officers quickly apprehended them.
I told the police everything, and then I retrieved the hidden camera from Sophie’s room. It was only then that Lucas and the others finally understood that their victim had documented every one of their crimes.
After watching the video, the officer’s face was grim. “You’re all under arrest for conspiracy to commit rape and drugging. Take
Gabriel struggled, screaming, “The video is fake! She’s just trying to get rid of us now that we’ve helped her build her company!”
Shane chimed in, “That’s right! She’s framing us because we refused to marry her daughter!”
The officer roared, “It was a live–stream camera! Our tech team is watching the feed right now! The playback can’t be faked!”
away!”
Live–stream camera. The words hit me like a physical blow. I suddenly remembered a night when Sophie had tried to video–call me. I was in surgery and missed it. Perhaps that was the
night she was being tortured… no wonder she had believed their lies. A wave of guilt and pain washed over me, and I struck my own chest in anguish.
