Chapter 10
I stared him down, my voice cold as steel.
“What do you regret, Leo?”
“This is the ending you chose last time.”
“And I never loved you. If you hadn’t stolen Lucian’s necklace and made me mistake you for someone else, I would’ve never tried to save you.”
I reached for Lucian’s hand and turned away.
Behind us, Leo tried to spin his chair around–but one of the wheels snagged on a loose stone. He tipped, crashing hard to the ground.
“Scarlett! Please–just give me one more chance!”
I didn’t look back. I walked faster.
That night, I told Lucian everything–about my past life, what I’d gone through, what Leo had done.
Lucian said nothing
at first. Then, silently, he punched the moonstone wall behind him, deep claw marks ripping through it.
“Scarlett,” he rasped, “I failed you. If I hadn’t lost the necklace, none of this would’ve happened. You suffered because of me.”
“I’ll make Leo pay. Twice over.”
But before Lucian could act, Leo made his move.
He kidnapped me.
I woke to ropes cutting into my wrists and ankles, my arms going numb. The scent of rusted metal filled the room. Leo loomed in front of me, still in his chair, eyes wide with obsession.
“Scarlett,” he murmured. “I know I messed up. But why won’t you forgive me?”
“You chose Lucian. You hate me now. I get it. But I won’t let you go.”
“You used your blood to heal him, but you let me rot.”
His fingers trembled as he pulled a knife from his pocket.
“I’m not mad at you. I know you love me. You just hate what I became.”
“But it’s okay. Soon, you’ll see. We’ll be together again.”
“You’ll heal me. I’ll stand again. We’ll have a perfect life—get mated, have a pack of pups. Everything we dreamed.”
Tears blurred my vision. My voice shook.
“Leo, your legs are gone. My blood can’t regrow them. I can’t bring back what’s lost.”
“Please, let me go. We can pretend this never happened.”
But he wasn’t listening. His voice dropped to a whisper, soft and eerie.
“It’ll hurt a little, but just for a second. Bear with it, okay?”
As the blade neared my wrist-
Lucian kicked the door down.
“Scarlett!”
He tackled Leo, sending him flying from the chair.
“Are you alright?” he asked, slicing through my ropes, pulling me into his arms.
Inodded, sobbing into his chest. “I am now.
Behind us, Leo–wild and desperate–grabbed the knife and lunged again.
Lucian moved just in time.
Leo missed. His momentum sent him crashing forward–and the blade drove straight into his own chest.

By the time the healers got him to the hospital, it was over.
Skyclaw had lost its Alpha. The pack was thrown into chaos. Rogue wolves and feral beasts rose up, sensing blood in the water.
Lucian led Lunarcrest’s warriors to crush the uprising.
Many Skyclaw wolves, awed by his strength and leadership, defected to Lunarcrest.
Weeks later, Lucian held Shadowmoon Land’s grandest mating ceremony–just for me.
In my last life, Leo never even announced me as his mate. There was no ceremony. No recognition.
The pack mocked me. I was never truly Luna.
But now?
I stood at the heart of Shadowmoon, crowned in moonstone and silk, with a mate who loved me like I was everything.
Every she–wolf in the territory envied me.

As fireworks lit the sky, Lucian leaned in, cupped my face, and kissed me softly.
This time, I didn’t beg for love.
I claimed it.
