Chapter 3 They Meet Again
Lamar stood outside the door, his expression darkening to the utmost.
He thought, “Good for you, Graciela. You claimed that you
couldn’t live without me, but after just a day, you’re already with someone else?
“I surely underestimated you.
“You’re so good at hitting on men!”
“Mr. Arellano, do you still wanna go inside?” Curtis asked tentatively.
Lamar said coldly, “No.”
It had always been Graciela who was obsessed with him. Now that she was with someone else, she wouldn’t cling to him
anymore. He’d never be annoyed again.
Yet, for some reason, he wasn’t relieved or happy at all.
He thought, “No one has ever dared to play me like this.
“You’ve got some nerve, Graciela.”
On the way back, the atmosphere in the car was utterly
oppressive. Curtis drove while keeping his eyes on the road, not
even daring to breathe out loud.
“Graciela, just you wait…”
He heard Lamar’s mutter.
Glancing at Lamar in the rearview mirror, he couldn’t help but
think, “Should I tell Mr. Arellano how terrifying he is right now?
“Anyone who sees him like this will think he’s a dumped husband who’s so bitter and angry.”

Though Graciela had mostly recovered, Emery, who had always doted on her, insisted that she shouldn’t leave the hospital before full recovery in case of any complications.
Therefore, she remained hospitalized for over half a month,
spending every day sleeping and eating nutritious supplements brought by Emery.
Having regained nearly four kilograms, she no longer looked
that gaunt and was once again radiant.
Just as she felt she couldn’t bear the boredom anymore, her
bestie, Willa Morrison, came for a visit.
They hadn’t seen each other since Graciela married Lamar.
Hearing that Graciela had completely forgotten about Lamar, Willa was over the moon.
“Grace, what are you gonna do after getting discharged?” Willa asked.
Stroking her chin, Graciela mused, “I don’t know. Maybe I’ll get a job. After all, I’m twenty–four already, though I’m still nineteen mentally…”
Willa couldn’t agree more.
“You definitely should! Lamar totally owned you in the past, and you couldn’t do anything he didn’t allow you to do. You were like his pet. Finally, you’ve got your freedom back…”
Willa’s heart skipped a beat after she said this, and she worried her words might upset Graciela.
She secretly observed Graciela’s expression. Finding nothing unusual, she couldn’t help but feel a lump in her throat.
She still remembered how much Graciela had loved Lamar back
then.
Maybe losing memories was a good thing for Graciela.
Willa kept Graciela company for a long time. Graciela kept
begging her, and she finally compromised and agreed to sneak her out to have some fun.
“How about that club we used to frequent? Remember all the hot guys there?”
Graciela suggested, her eyes sparkling.
Willa could never say no to her when she acted cute and could
only agree. Thrilled, she got ready for shopping, wanting to dress up to meet some cute guys.
Willa was genuinely happy for her as she was once again radiant and glowing.
She bought a black bodycon dress that clung to her every curve and made her slender legs stand out even more.
The light makeup on her face accentuated her exquisite features. Everything about her, including her bright eyes, charming smile, and curvaceous figure, was so eye–catching.
She was nothing but captivating.
They drove to Tulip Club, which was an upscale nightclub that
served members only.
Members here were either rich or noble.
The second they stepped inside, Willa regretted it.
She thought, “Lamar and Graciela met here. Why the heck would I take her here? What if Lamar’s here, too?”
Unfortunately, Lamar was indeed here.
Graciela drew the attention of many people after she stepped into the club, and she saw the man sitting in the corner. Half of his body was shrouded in shadows, and he held a cigarette between his fingers, his handsome face flickered by the glow.
As their eyes met, her heart fluttered.
The nightclub was filled with noisy music, and the dance floor was packed with people. Yet, there he was, sitting there motionlessly, so detached and noble that he seemed totally out
of place.
His gaze upon her made her heart race.
A woman was leaning against him, and they seemed so
intimate.
For some reason, she suddenly felt so sad. Her nose twitched,
and she almost shed tears.
She thought, “What’s wrong with me?
“I don’t know him at all. Why am I so sad?”
