Chapter 20 I Hear You Explain
Overseas.
Lamar, in a black suit, looked sharp and classy after sealing the
deal with foreign business giants.
Saying goodbye to international friends with a light hug, he
slumped back in the comfortable and luxurious back seat of the
car, allowing himself to show a tired expression.
He ordered in a hoarse voice, “Go back home!”
The car started smoothly.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Curtis glanced back at the tired
boss who was resting with his eyes closed. The words on the tip
of his tongue were silently swallowed back.
“What’s wrong?” Lamar opened his eyes, the faint gleam in his
eyes indicating his limited patience.
“Mr. Arellano, Ms. McLean, and Ms. Ferguson had another
argument.”
Curtis briefly reported the situation.
Under Lamar’s intense gaze, Curtis nervously admitted, “Ms. McLean called you many times. But I didn’t tell you in time because I thought this project was really important.””
Lamar snorted, “Give me my phone.”
Curtis quickly handed over the phone with both hands.
Lamar checked his unread messages, furrowing his brow.
Curtis carefully opened his mouth as he observed his expression, “Mr. Arellano, there’s another situation. Because we
left the country in a hurry, I forgot to report to you. Mr.
Morrison from Morrison Jewelry, who just returned to the
country, publicly confessed his love to Ms. Ferguson at the new
product launch event.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the man’s cold and stern eyes
stared straight at him.
Curtis felt the temperature dropping dramatically around him.
“I took the most recent flight back home!”
“Got it!”
“Lamar!” Leanna grabbed onto Lamar like a drowning person
grabbing onto driftwood, “You’re finally back, they all bullied
me!”
Lamar was pushed back two steps by her.
“Don’t rush! Take your time,” he gently patted Leanna’s back.
After she calmed down, he gestured for Leanna to let go.
Leanna held back her disappointment, let go of him, and felt
even worse when she noticed Lamar seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
Lamar looked around the messy room, poured a glass of water for Leanna, and helped her sit down on the sofa.
“I just found out about the situation, and I watched the video,” he said solemnly. “Leanna, it’s not right to hit someone.”
Leanna hurriedly defended herself, “Lamar, I didn’t mean to, it was Graciela who set me up.”
“Alright! I’m listening to your explanation.” Lamar stared at her,
“How did Graciela harm you?”
Leanna was speechless.
How should she say?
She couldn’t ruin the image of herself in Lamar’s heart!
“Can’t say it?” Lamar smirked sarcastically, “Leanna, after you went back to your country, I feel like you’ve changed a lot. Making things difficult for Graciela during filming, accusing Graciela of being kept, letting your assistant mislead the public, slapping people at will, one by one, these are not things that the Leanna I know would do. The Leanna I know is the most
beautiful angel in the world. Now, my angel has fallen to earth, with dust on her wings.”
“I, I,” Leanna panicked as she looked at Lamar’s disappointed eyes, she couldn’t afford to lose Lamar’s protection: “Lamar, listen to me, I really didn’t mean to.”
She quickly sat up from the sofa and grabbed Lamar’s sleeve.
“I was jealous, I was jealous!” Leanna cried, “I was jealous that
Graciela was by your side for five years, I was jealous that she
got you!”
“I hit him because Graciela was flaunting how obsessed she is
with her body in front of me. Lamar,” Leanna looked at him
with tears in her eyes, “Do you know how I felt when I heard
that? My heart felt like it was being stabbed!”
Did Graciela show off that he was obsessed with her body?
Lamar was slightly taken aback.
A moment later, he whispered, “I had already broken up with her when you went back to your country.”
“What does it matter?” Leanna suddenly got excited. “So what if
we’re separated? I’ve been back for so long, have you ever
touched me? Have you announced our relationship to the outside world? I’m still following you in the dark, I’d rather be
Graciela, at least a legitimate mistress!”
Lamar silently looked at her.
The air around seemed to have frozen
