Chapter 28 Life Is Experience
Graciela was discharged from the hospital three days later.
Actually, she didn’t have any major issues, but the overprotective sister rushed back and insisted on her staying for three days. She underwent a comprehensive examination and it was confirmed multiple times that her body was very healthy before she was allowed to be discharged.
During her hospital stay, Gralla Entertainment has already explained about her sudden fainting. Graciela had a sudden headache due to overwork, combined with fainting caused by low blood sugar from dieting.
As soon as the statement came out, no matter what everyone had guessed before, there was an official reason after all.
There were quite a few fans feeling sorry for her.
Many passersby also said that finally a celebrity admitted that their body is not naturally perfect, gaining a wave of fans.
Before Lamar and Leanna officially announced their
relationship, Graciela fainting didn’t attract much attention.
Instead, because she was extremely bored during her hospital
stay, Graciela was forced to eat up all the gossip about Lamar
and Leanna, which made her feel really bad.
Finally allowed to leave the hospital, Graciela bolted.
After being discharged, the air felt fresh, but I still didn’t feel free.
Emery didn’t know what was wrong with him, but ever since
he got out of the hospital, he’s been in this intense, hyper- focused mode.
Graciela could tell that her brother was really concerned about her possibly regaining her memory.
This concern, it’s not about her recovery joy, but worry that she will regain memory.
Graciela couldn’t help but wonder, What happened in those five years that time stole from me, that made my brother so afraid of me possibly regaining my memory?
But she couldn’t ask, and she couldn’t tell her brother that
sometimes fragments would automatically pop up in her mind,
even pretending she hadn’t remembered at all.
God knows how much she suffered.
So, when Ambrose called and told her she had to go to Omaford tomorrow and to get her luggage ready, Graciela was almost in tears of joy.
She happily packed her bags, pretending not to see Willa’s sour face. In less than a minute after Ambrose’s car stopped at the company dormitory gate, she cheerfully got into the car with her luggage.
She was still humming a cheerful tune in her mouth until the car got on the highway.
Ambrose chuckled and teased her, “With you like this, I might think we’re on a honeymoon.”
The music suddenly stopped, Graciela took a moment to compose herself, and then she realized their situation.
“Are we driving to Omaford?” Graciela exclaimed in surprise.
Ambrose nodded, “How about this arrangement?”
“Not great!” Graciela couldn’t believe it, she opened the map app and checked: “Did you know? Otterberg is 1,850 kilometers
away from Omaford, it takes 40 hours to drive there.”
“I know!” Ambrose remained calm, driving steadily, “Don’t you
think this is pretty romantic?”
“No way, too late now!” Graciela didn’t give an inch of face.”
“It’s too late, once you board the thief’s ship, don’t expect to get off!” Ambrose’s eyes twinkled.
“Hehe!” Graciela chuckled twice, “Looks like you have a pretty clear understanding of yourself.”
Ambrose felt unhappy in her heart, so she shut up and said nothing.
The two of them were in the same car, but it felt like they were in two different worlds.
When they reached the first service area, Ambrose stopped to buy water. The two of them sat on the bench outside the
convenience store and took a short break.
Ambrose saw that Graciela was still looking unhappy, so he tried to convince her again.
“Have you heard a saying before? ‘Experience is life!‘ Driving all the way to Omaford like this is also a great experience, isn’t it?”
“Oh!” Graciela mocked him, “So your girlfriend who went around the Seine River is the practice of this philosophy?”
Ambrose almost choked to death on the water he had just
drunk, coughing violently and his face turning bright red.
Graciela was startled and quickly patted his back to help him calm down.
It took a while, but Ambrose finally calmed down.
Graciela didn’t realize that one sentence almost caused a
disaster, she felt a bit guilty and softened her attitude towards Ambrose.
“Was it Willa who said that?” Ambrose glanced at her, saw her looking down in silence, and sighed.
“Don’t listen to her nonsense, she just can’t stand to see me doing well! Don’t be fooled by my charming face, I may look like a
player but I’m actually very pure, still a virgin!”
Graciela responded with a skeptical look.
“What? Don’t believe me?” Ambrose smirked, “How about we
find a place to test it out?”
Graciela didn’t even bat an eyelid and replied, “Sure! But are you
sure you won’t die trying?”
“Tsk! Are you a girl?” Ambrose sneered, but then he
contradicted himself the next second: “But, it’s precisely because
you’re so unique that I’m attracted to you!”
Graciela rolled her eyes, but couldn’t help her curiosity.
“Hey! What’s going on between you and Willa? I’ve never seen her dislike someone so much before!”
Ambrose’s face, which had never lost its smile, rarely showed a hint of sadness.
After a while, he finally regained his usual expression and said softly, “Let her tell you about this herself!”
Graciela stopped asking.
“Hey, if you really hate driving to Omaford, we’ll finish this bottle of water and head to the nearest airport,” Ambrose tapped her hand with the water bottle.
“I’m not delicate either! When I was learning to dance, I was much more tired than this,” Graciela explained. “I just feel like, there’s no need to make things difficult for yourself! Why make yourself so tired when you could just sit on a nice plane
instead?”
“You’re right. But everyone goes through a phase of self-
inflicted suffering in life, that’s just how it is!” Ambrose aimed
the empty bottle at the trash can, gave it a toss, a perfect three-
pointer, and the empty bottle went straight into the trash can.
“In my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with going through hardships, all the experiences we’ve been through make up our life. It’s because we chose a different path that we have a unique life.”
Upon hearing this, Graciela stared at him blankly.
