In the stillness of the night, Killian paused before exhaling deeply. “Indeed, my staff’s incompetence forces me to overexert myself.”
I shifted slightly in his arms and responded, “There’s no need to push yourself so hard. You’ve already achieved plenty.”
He tightened his embrace around my waist. “How can you say that? If I don’t put in the effort, how will I provide the best for my beloved wife?”
“Did you fancy that pink diamond pendant?” He continued in a hushed tone. “Anastacia mentioned that numerous luxury brands have recently released pink ensembles. Shall I acquire them all for you?”
“Alright,” I replied with a faint, sardonic grin, my mind racing.
I was acutely aware that these pink outfits were meant to atone for tonight’s infidelity.
Previously, I believed such presents were expressions of his love and affection. Now, however, the sight of those pink items in our home only filled me with revulsion. They were no longer tokens of endearment but emblems of shame and duplicity.
The following day, Killian promptly purchased all the pink attire from the season’s premier brands and had them delivered to my residence.
I checked my phone to find a deluge of social media posts from the brands‘ sales

representatives, all proclaiming Killian’s devotion to me. From pink diamonds to pink clothing, it appeared as though he was attempting to craft a pink universe for me.
Numerous women in the comment sections tagged their partners, expressing their wish for similar treatment.
I could only smile ruefully, shaking my head. Killian had deceived not only me but the entire world. Everyone believed he adored me deeply.
At ten o’clock, the doorbell chimed.
The delivery turned out to be from Anastacia, who had brought the clothes. The quantity was so vast that she required a truck for transportation.
Anastacia stood at the entrance, imperiously directing the servants to bring in the garments, as if she were the lady of the house. Her attitude irked me, but I chose not to react. I remained in the garden, silently perusing my
book.
She carelessly pushed a rack of clothes past me, but as she did so, something dropped to the ground with a soft thud. It was a set of dark green lace lingerie.

Anastacia’s cheeks immediately reddened. She hastily retrieved the garment and stammered, “My apologies, Miss Penelope. This set was actually purchased for me by my partner. It’s a coincidence–it’s from the same boutique as the clothes President Barnes sent you. I believe the store may have mixed them up.”
I glanced at the underwear in her grasp–dark green lace with minimal coverage. I offered an indifferent shrug. “It’s of no consequence. It’s only natural for young couples to express their passion.”
Anastacia seemed dissatisfied with my apathetic response. She hesitated before speaking again. “To be honest, he shouldn’t have bought this set, as he won’t need it… But I have some joyous news to share with you, Miss Penelope. Can you keep it confidential?”
I arched an eyebrow, intrigued. “What is it?”
She placed a hand on her abdomen, her face beaming with happiness. “I’m expecting!”
I wasn’t surprised when she touched her stomach; the news seemed almost predictable. But what followed caught me off guard.
“However, I haven’t informed my partner yet,” she added. “I want to wait until the pregnancy is further along before telling him. Miss Penelope, can you keep this a secret for me?”
I smiled, my tone even. “Who is your partner? If I’m not acquainted with him, how can I maintain secrecy?”
Anastacia’s lips curled into a cryptic smile. “My partner is quite the mystery, but I’m certain you know him. After all, a tall, wealthy, and handsome man like him is hard to overlook. He’s quite captivating wherever he goes.”
I studied her expression, sensing that she was eager for me to inquire further.
