Chapter 11
After a pause, Liora said again, “If the Alston family badmouthed me in front of you, I can explain everything to you.”
Sylvia stared at Liora, a touch of pity in her aged eyes, as she gently patted Liora’s shoulder to comfort her.
“You don’t have to worry either, butler Jordon has reported to me about you and the Alston family’s child.”
“Loving someone and giving your whole heart without reservation is not a problem.”
“I also promised you that as long as you are in New York for a day, I will not let the Alston family’s child find you.”
Liora looked up in surprise, she hadn’t expected Sylvia to not judge her past.
Twenty years later, Liora felt the warmth of her elders for the first time.
Half an hour later, Jordon drove and took Liora to the villa where Nathan lived.
Before Liora went in, Jordon repeatedly instructed, “Mr. Collen has become even more strange–tempered since he became mute. If he ever kicks you out, call me and I will come pick you up.”
After a pause, Jordon hesitated for a moment before kindly reminding, “Ms. Calden, remember, never mention his mother in front of Mr. Collen.”

“Thank you, Jordon, Liora said, furrowing her brow slightly.”
She took a deep breath and slowly pushed open the door of the villa, her gaze falling on the man sitting not far away, drinking coffee.
“Hello, are you Nathan?”
Her voice was clear, with a hint of cautious probing.
The man paused with his coffee, then slowly turned around.
In the afternoon, the sunlight shone through the window, casting on his delicate face, outlining his deep eyes and high nose bridge.
He was wearing a white shirt, his slender back lightly leaning against the sofa, his dark eyes exuding a coldness, and his whole body emitting a sense of aloofness.
When Nathan’s gaze fell on Liora, his ink–black eyes narrowed into a line, rare seconds of distraction.
The two of them stood facing each other, separated by a distance of five
meters.
Time seemed to stand still, and no one spoke
The maid Li quickly handed
a cup of tea from the side, breaking the eye contact between the two. “Ms. Calden, Mr. Collen usually doesn’t speak. If there’s anything, he will write it on the tablet,” she said.
“Okay. Liora came to her senses, took the tea, and took a sip.”
The warm tea flowed into her stomach, easing some of her tension.
Nathan withdrew his cold gaze. When he lowered his head, a rare tenderness flickered in his dark eyes.

He picked up the pen and quickly wrote down a few lines on the tablet.
It took a while before Nathan passed the tablet over.
Liora looked at the content on the tablet, a hint of astonishment in her
watery eyes.
On the screen, it wasn’t a cold message. It was actually some kind.
reminders.
“The first time we met, you should have been a little reserved. You can choose any bedroom on the second floor, just pick the one you like.”
“Later, I will have the Collen family tailor come over to take your measurements, and then he will specially make clothes for you for spring, summer, autumn, and winter.”
“During the day, there were five servants at home. Li, the housekeeper, was in charge of cooking. You could ask her to make whatever you liked to eat.”
“By the way, there is my spare card in the master bedroom drawer, you can use it freely.”
Liora looked at the words on the tablet, feeling somewhat puzzled.
At first, when Nathan heard her voice and turned around, those black eyes were full of distance and coldness.
For some reason, just by looking at himself for a few seconds, there was a touch of pity in his eyes.
Liora was not sure where this change came from, but now Nathan is not ignoring her, which is a good thing for her.
“Thank you. Liora handed the tablet to Nathan.”

She was wearing long sleeves and accidentally revealed the wound on her wrist when she reached out.
Nathan frowned, quickly writing on the tablet, “How did you get a wound on your hand?”
Liora looked at the words on the tablet and didn’t want to talk about the injury from a few days ago. “It’s nothing, the doctor said it will be fine in half a month.”
Nathan originally wanted to ask who had hurt her, but seeing her evasive eyes, he changed the subject and wrote on the tablet: “I heard from Grandma that you used to stay in Davis. How are you adjusting to New York now?”
When she heard him mention Davis, Liora’s heart skipped a beat.
She knew Nathan didn’t bring it up on purpose, so she replied vaguely, “I will settle down in New York in the future. As for Davis, I don’t want to go back there anymore.”
Nathan lowered his gaze, further confirming that Liora suspected something bad had happened to Davis.
To avoid bringing up her sad past again, Nathan wrote on the tablet: “You can instruct the household staff and driver as you please. If you want to go shopping in New York, I’ll take you there.”
“By the way, when you first met me, was there anything you wanted to ask or know about me?”
Liora thought he would continue to ask more questions, but the man’s considerate gesture warmed her heart.
She had intended to ask what had happened to make him suddenly unable

to speak, but the words turned into concern at the last moment: “Have you found it inconvenient not to speak for these five years?”
Nathan lowered his gaze, he knew what Liora wanted to ask…
