Chapter 8
Amber’s POV
“As for your so–called love…” I scoffed. “Sorry, I don’t feel it at all–and frankly, I don’t want it anymore. An Alpha’s love is out of reach for an omega

His eyes flickered, still trying to twist the truth.
“1’m a man, Amber. And she was in heat–I couldn’t control myself. It really was just that one time. I know it hurt yo Piper off for good. Isn’t that enough?”

I stared at him, almost laughing at how pathetic he sounded.
He still didn’t get it. The moment he climbed into Piper’s bed, it was over. Done. No fixing. No second chances..
I turned to leave, Carter’s hand in mine.
That’s when Grayson’s panicked voice rang out behind me.
“Amber! You’re serious about this?!”
Carter looked over his shoulder, eyes full of disdain.
“I’ve been waiting years to punch you, man. Back in school, watching you throw attitude at Amber every damn day? Made my blood boil. She chased you for three years, and you treated her like she was nothing but a nuisance”
*Do her a favor–stay the hell away.”
Grayson’s eyes widened like he’d been struck by lightning.
“It was you! You’re the gu
Memories slammed into him like a truck
Years ago, just after he and I had started dating, Grayson was ambushed one early morning while prepping for a wolf run. Someone had thrown a sack over his head and beat the hell out of him.
All while yelling. “That’s for touching Amber, you bastard”
He’d never figured out who it was.
Until now.
“Let me go!” he shouted, thrashing against the warriors holding him down. “Let me at him!”
But they had him locked tight. Helpless, furious, and humiliated, Grayson could only watch as Carter walked away with me his breath ragged, chest heaving, eyes burning red–until, suddenly, everything went dark. He collapsed.
Backstage in the dressing rooms, I turned to Carter and stared at lilin,
“Is there something you’re not telling me?
The man who just called Grayson every name in the book–who punched him without blinking–felt like a total stranger compared to the soft, gentle
Carter I used to know.
Was I hallucinating?
Then, out of nowhere, a maiory surfaced
Back during our training days, I used to mess up constantly.
But no matter how many times I tailed, Carter always smiled and patiently walked me through it again and again.
“Don’t rush, he’d say with that warm, steady sille. “We’ll take it slow.”
que day, though, I caught him talking to a wall–muttering under his breath, frustrated,
“Amber’s a little slow, so what? If I teach her gently, she’ll get it. And if she still doesn’t… then I must be explaining it wrong. It’s never her fault‘
I’d thought I was hearing things back then.
Now, under my gaze, Carter shifted awkwardly and looked away-

Then that handsome face leaned in, eyes twinkling with mischief.
“You’re not mad at me, are you?”
1 burst out laughing
God, this Carter was so much more real than the flawless golden boy from school.
And honestly? I liked him better this way.
Grayson’s POV
I woke up in a fog, throat dry like it had been torched.
buttoned–up”
When I blinked my eyes open, I saw four figures standing around my bed: any father, my mother, Piper, and her father–Tobias.
The air was suffocating, like a storm was about to hit.
Before I could even sit up straight, my mother, Luna Lila, jumped in, voice sharp and urgent.
“Grayson, just because that ungrateful Amber ran off and eloped doesn’t mean you need to pass out over it. She was never good enough for you. You’re the heir to an Alpha line. What matters now is your mating ceremony with Piper. Tobias is here today to finalize everything.”
My ears rang. For a second, I wondered if I was still dreaming.
Iclenched my jaw and forced myself to sit up, voice rough with disbelief.
“Mom… are you insane? Piper’s just my dude. There’s no way I’m marrying her.”
The room exploded.
“You bastard!” Tobias roared, stepping forward like a charging bear, his Beta aura pressing down hard
“My daughter is carrying your child—and you have the audacity to call her a dude?!”
