Chapter 10
Suddenly, a taste of rust surged in Jason’s throat, his tie turning into a python tightening around his windpipe, snowflake static appearing at the edges of his retina.
The two words “encounter death” were burning deep in the
consciousness, and the ashes fell into the stomach, triggering a chain.
spasm.
Jason stumbled backwards until he hit a pillar, then he slid down to the ground as if all his strength had left him.
He suddenly heard the whimper of a young animal coming from his own throat the sound was so strange and terrifying, as if borrowed from someone else’s chest.

Everything that followed seemed like a dream to Jason.
In the broadcast, Jason, like the other dazed people, signed to receive the remains. They called it remains, but it was just a little ash found by the forensic scientists and police on the seat where Carla had been sitting after the plane crash.
The tiny ashes were solemnly placed in the urn by the forensic doctor. After being identified and confirmed by Jason’s signature, they were ultimately handed over to Jason with great solemnity.
Jason walked out with Carla’s ashes in his arms, like a soulless puppet.

But Jason seemed not to hear, dragging his feet as if they were made of lead, slowly moving away from the airport.
Then numbly started the car and drove towards home.
When Jason arrived home, he found only a group of people waiting at the
front door.
Those were Jason’s brothers, as well as Kate.
Those brothers have been watching Jason and Carla from the wedding until now. Although Jason no longer likes Carla, she is still their sister–in- law in appearance. In terms of both emotion and reason, they should also come to see her off for the last time.
While Kate was still moaning in pain at the hospital, the news of Carla’s plane crash instantly overwhelmed her with immense joy.
Now Jason’s grandfather has become a vegetable, unconscious, and now Carla has died.

It was a foregone conclusion that she would marry into Jason’s family.
Thinking of this, Kate turned her head to look at Jason getting out of the
car.
She pretended to be sorrowful and walked up to Jason, wanting to support him: “Jason, mourn, you still have me.”
Jason continued to stumble up the steps as if he hadn’t seen Kate.
Behind her, Kate saw her empty hands and a flash of unwillingness in her
eyes.
The next moment, Kate heard a scream from ahead: “Jason, be careful!”
Kate looked up in a hurry and saw Jason, who was walking up the stairs, suddenly his legs went weak and he knelt straight down.
Her face changed color, and she hurried to go up and help Jason.
Jason, however, shook his head numbly, his eyes empty. “I’m fine, don’t worry about me.”
Everyone saw his growing concern on his face.
Some people couldn’t bear to say: “Jason, I know your sister–in–law’s death was too sudden.”
“But didn’t you dislike her? Now that she’s dead, isn’t it convenient for you and Kate?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Others also chimed in agreement.
“Yeah, back then you were in front of us saying that you and Carla were just in a marriage of convenience without any feelings. Why did you have to change yourself for her?”
Jason still maintained the posture of kneeling with his head down, until a long time later, the crowd heard him mutter.
“No feelings…”
How could there be no feelings, he clearly had something with Carla…
Kate’s eyes lit up when she heard this emotionless sentence.
Just now, she almost forgot about it because Jason ignored her.
Yes, Jason and Carla didn’t have any feelings for each other. It must have been because Carla died so suddenly that Jason didn’t react and ended up ignoring her.

“Get lost!”
Several brothers quickly stepped forward to help Kate up, asking Jason what he was doing.
The result was that Jason even drove them away together.
“Get out, all of you, get out!”
“Bang!”
The villa gate was tightly closed, Jason knelt to the ground with a thud, holding Carla’s urn in his arms, his mouth emitting a wounded beast–like whimper.
“Carla…”
