“Sorry for what? Explain it. What exactly did you do that you need to apologize to me for?”
Gianna smiled, lips curling. “Rosie, why do you love saying sorry so much? You feel sorry for me? Then kneel and say it like you mean it. Or is ‘sorry‘ just a word you throw around? So if I killed you and then said sorry, everything would be okay?”
“Sis-”
Rosie hadn’t expected Gianna to come at her so sharp and angry.
Her face turned pale.
“Gianna! What is wrong with you now? What did Rosie ever do to you for you to go crazy like this?”
Carmen stepped in front of Rosie to shield her. “Now explain to us—what the hell happened at the wedding yesterday?”
What happened? Didn’t you see it all? I married Brendan. Got a problem with that?”
“Are you insane?” Carmen snapped. “Brendan isn’t someone you can mess with! Do you even deserve a man like him? What about Arnold?
Carme Didn’t you love him so much? Why can’t you do anything right? Can’t even hold onto your own man?”
Her three brothers remained silent, glancing at Gianna with raised eyebrows and a hint of disgust.
“Gia, tell us what exactly happened yesterday,” Yahir spoke. “We need to know how to fix it. We’ve troubled Mr. Curtis–we’ll need to visit and thank him properly.”
He continued,” And what about Arnold? Did you upset him again? You better go patch things up with him. If he leaves you, who else would marry you?”
Gianna looked at Carmen, then at Yahir–and couldn’t help but laugh.
Then she burst out laughing.

“So Arnold running off to chase his old sweetheart on our wedding day–that’s my fault? And And why exactly am I not good enough for Brendan? You all think I’m that worthless, huh? You think I gotta beg someone just to marry me? What–without Arnold, I’m just trash nobody else wants?”
Carmen frowned, clearly irritated. “Gianna, stop talking back! You always let us down!”
“Si, Mom and Dad are just doing it for your own good,” Rosie chimed in.
“No need. Don’t bother being good to me. If you really care, then give me back what my Grandpa left me!”
Gianna held out her hand toward Rosie. “The earrings, the bracelet, the jade hairpin Grandpa gave me. You said you were just borrowing them, remember? What now–borrowed them for life?”
She sneered, “You’re just an adopted daughter. Shouldn’t you know your place? My things aren’t yours. Grandpa left those to me!”
Rosie’s face turned sour. “I—I’ll go get them for you.”
“You haven’t explained anything yet! And now you’re snapping at your sister like this?” Carmen shouted and suddenly raised her hand to slap.
But Gianna grabbed her wrist in midair. That slap never landed.
“You’re slapping your real daughter to protect your adopted one? You’re no better than trash!” Gianna shoved her hand away hard.
Carmen lost her balance and fell back onto the couch. “Gianna! How dare you?!”
“So what?” Gianna sneered, then turned to glare at Rosie. “Hand over everything you’ve taken from me!”
