Chapter 5
Everything happened too fast.[]
When the ambulance arrived, Vivian had already stopped breathing in Kai’s arms.

Ryan walked over to Vivian, his hands shaking, but he never dared touch her face.[]
At the hospital, the doctor pronounced Vivian dead.[]
Dad found a suicide note in Vivian’s room. Someone leaked it, and the contents quickly spread through their entire social circle.[]

From that day on, Kai went to the mountain every day to keep watch.
On the eighth morning, he found Vivian’s body was gone, with only circling vultures remaining. After driving the birds away, he collapsed to his knees.]
He’d thought Vivian was just spoiled and willful, using her psychological trauma as an excuse to bully Celeste. He never imagined she’d be so resolute, using her life as her final act of rebellion.[]
Under the harsh sunlight, something silver suddenly flashed in the grass.]]
Kai’s pupils contracted sharply as he stumbled forward.]
When his fingers touched that bracelet, he felt like he’d been struck by lightning.[]
“Find out immediately!” he screamed into his phone. “I want every single thing Celeste has done over the years investigated!“[]
Thirty minutes later, a trembling voice came through the phone. “Young Master Harrington, we’ve confirmed it. The bracelet definitely belonged to Miss Vivian. Also… that white dress in the old photo was Miss Vivian’s too. Miss Celeste stole it…”
Kai’s legs gave out, feeling like someone had stabbed him in the chest too.
“You’re sure?” His voice was hoarse.
The person on the other end sensed something was wrong. “Absolutely certain, Young Master. Oh, and our people secretly got into the Ashworth house and retrieved backup security footage.“]]
Back in his car, Kai’s hands trembled as he opened the video file.[]
On screen, Celeste’s face was twisted with rage as she smashed the portrait and stomped on it with her heels. Vivian finally couldn’t take it anymore and slapped her.
The footage continued, showing Celeste coldly pushing Vivian down the stairs.
And him… he’d actually taken Celeste’s hand and walked away, leaving Vivian struggling in a pool of blood.]
Reinembering Vivian’s desperate look before she died, Kai suddenly couldn’t breathe.[]
Chapter 3
In the security footage, Vivian raised her wrist, and that bracelet he knew so well glinted in the sunlight.[]
That was it!
The little girl who saved him all those years ago wore that exact bracelet on her wrist!
He’d stubbornly assumed that pampered Vivian could never have been in the slums.[]
And since Celeste always said she grew up with her divorced mother in the projects, he naturally assumed his savior had to be Celeste.[]
“It was always you.” He gripped the bracelet tightly. A tear dropped onto the silver chain with a soft sound.[]
He suddenly remembered that day when Celeste stood him up. He’d clearly seen Vivian in that alley but never wondered why she was there.
“Smack!” He slapped himself hard.]
The sharp sound echoed in the car. Half his face burned, but it was nothing compared to the pain in his chest.
The surveillance kept playing.[]
On screen, Celeste brought a strange man home. With no one around, the man pressed her against the wall and kissed her passionately the moment they walked in.[]
“When’s that doctor who’s always hovering around you gonna get lost? The way he looks at you isn’t innocent.“[]
“Oh, I’m just stringing him along for fun.” Celeste laughed contemptuously. “The Harrington heir is chasing me now–like I’d settle for some nobody doctor. What a joke.”
She pulled out a text message. “Look, he’s asking me to meet him in some slum. Seriously? If he wants to ask me out, he can’t even spring for a decent place. Going to that dump–who knows if he’s planning something sketchy.“]
The man jealously squeezed her waist. “You little vixen, always playing games.“]
“My game at least won you back, didn’t it?” Celeste’s eyes were seductive
What followed was continuous French kissing and intense scenes that could rival adult films…
Kai shut off his phone, unable to bear watching, and punched the car window so hard it made the driver jump.
He called his assistant, his voice ice–cold.[]
“Call Celeste. Tell her Young Master Harrington is inviting her to his birthday party for a ‘big surprise.“[]
