Chapter 4 Bitter Coffee

Sean once again placed another cup of black coffee without sugar in front of Eva. Just as he did, his phone rang.}

He casually sat sideways on the desk and, in front of Eva, answered the phone.[]

Alright, you choose the place, I’ll be there shortly.[

Eva picked up the coffee and took a sip. It was bitter, just like her mood right now.[

She glanced sideways at Sean. He seemed in a good mood while talking on the phone. Before hanging up, he even looked at her and said, I have a small matter to handle. I’ll come find you after I’m done.[

Sean hung up the phone, tossed it lightly back onto the desk, and looked at Eva. His gaze then shifted to the coffee cup she had just sipped from. He asked, How’s the taste?”

Not bad,Eva smiled and stood up, clearly understanding the situation. Since you have an appointment, I’ll just[

Let me take you,Sean jumped off the desk and looked at her.[

No need, thanks. I’m heading back to the company. It’s not on the way,Eva shook her head and decisively turned toward the door

As she opened the office door, she looked back at him and said, Thanks for the coffee. And I hope you’ll consider it soon.”

After waiting for three years, now you’re in a hurry?Sean tilted his head and looked at her.[

Not in a hurry, I’m thinking of you.

Heh, thinking of me and asking for three million?Sean raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed by Eva’sgood intentions

When you were abroad, no one knew about you two, and no one would gossip. But now that you’re back, we’ll run into each other frequently, and we both know a lot of the same people. It’s better for you to become single again, for her too.]

Eva said this as she turned her head to look into Sean’s eyes, paused for a moment, and then continued with a smile, Enough with the formalities. Now that you’re back, you should know, I really need money right now. Please make a decision soon.

Eva finished speaking and walked out, pulling the door behind her

Sean watched her leave, frowning slightly. After a moment, he lowered his gaze and focused on the coffee cup she had sipped from.[]

He picked it up, sniffed it, and could already smell the bitterness just from the scent

Putting the cup back down, he sat back in his office chair, picked up the divorce agreement, and tore it open, throwing it into the trash bin

After tossing it, he clapped his hands nonchalantly and picked up the phone from the desk, walking out of the office with an air of ease

When Sean left the company, he saw Eva standing on the sidewalk across the street, looking a bit anxious, seemingly waiting for a car

He got into the car but didn’t start the engine immediately. He wasn’t planning to offer to drive Eva

She had said she didn’t need it, so there was no need for him to make things awkward. He simply wanted to see how long it would take for Eva to get into a car

Chapter 4 Bitter Coffee

About ten minutes later, Sean saw a car stop in front of Eva. Before getting in, she glanced down at her phone and walked around to the back of the car to check the license plate number

ww

Rideshare?Sean frowned and muttered to himself, Is she really that desperate for money?

As Eva got into the car, she looked toward Sean. Across the street, their eyes met. et

Eva knew that Sean had seen her current desperate state

She smiled and shook her head, then got into the car

In the end, it didn’t matter that much anymore.[]

Eva had once liked Sean so much, wishing to show him all her best sides

Even then, Sean had never fallen for her. Now, with things as they were, with their marriage falling apart, there was no need for her to care about his

aze anymore
