Chapter 7 Lack of Money
Eva watched as Luke’s car drove away, then turned to look at Sean.
“My car is over there,” Sean spoke, glancing in the other direction.
“Mm,” Eva nodded and followed his steps toward the car.[]

As Sean opened the passenger side door, Eva happened to open the back door at the same time. Their eyes met, and Sean released the handle, letting the door close again. He leisurely clapped his hands, then walked around to the driver’s seat and got in.[]
“Go ahead,” Eva sat in the back and spoke first.[]
“Have you really gone crazy from being poor?” Sean laughed, turning to look at her as heller
“Did you drink?” Eva looked at him and asked.[]
fastened his seatbelt.[]
Sean paused for a moment, then released the seatbelt, letting it snap back into place. He slightly turned his body, facing Eva, “Do you know who that person was just now?“]
“Luke,” Eva met his gaze and answered casually.
“A spoiled rich kid, living for food and fun, treating relationships like a game. The old man from the Harris family probably doesn’t even know how many times he’s had to clean up his mess. You should stay away from him.“]
Eva looked at Sean, staring at him for a few seconds before smiling bitterly, “First, I’m not interested in him, and he’s not interested in me. We were just talking about a project my grandfather was working on before, and he’s interested in it, so we were just chatting. Second, I’m not an eighteen–year–old girl, and neither is he. People change. Looking at others through the lens of old opinions is unfair. Third, if you think I’m getting too close to him and it’ll make you look bad, hurry up and sign the divorce have nothing to do with each other.”
agreement, then we’ll
After saying all this, Eva looked at him, flashing a radiant smile, fully accepting her lack of “good manners” in Sean’s eyes.
“Well, the good man, can you just sign the damn papers?“]
“How about you show me your company’s accounts tomorrow?” Sean’s chest rose slightly as he looked at her.
“Is this a condition for dinner?” Eva met his gaze directly.[]
“You…” Sean furrowed his brows, speechless for a moment.[]
“How come I remember you didn’t used to be so aggressive?” Sean felt it clearly now–every word Eva said to him was sharp, with no room for discussion.
Eva looked at him, her gaze deepened for a moment. Then, she lowered her eyes and smiled softly. It wasn’t exactly soft, more like a nonchalant indifference, “I remember many people used to say I was cheap, shameless, and forced you, Young Master Shaw, to marry
- me.
Sean’s expression darkened as well. He sighed deeply and turned his gaze away, the car sinking into silence.
“What you did back then wasn’t very kind,” after a long silence, Sean finally spoke again.
His tone was calm, just like when Eva’s grandfather insisted Sean take responsibility. He had quietly nodded back then, agreeing to it.
