Chapter 6
I drifted in and out of unconsciousness, hearing Asher crying nearby, repeatedly asking.
“Why… why won’t the bleeding stop? Please, stop bleeding__”
“Cora, please, don’t scare me like this ”
I smelled the disinfectant of the Pack hospital.
I heard the pack doctor telling Asher,
“She could have lived until next spring, or maybe even longer.”
“But she said she had no money left and didn’t want to continue treatment.”
“Her condition is now uncontrollable. There’s no point in further treatment.”
Asher asked sharply,
“So you’re saying Cora. she’s dying soon?”
Before the pack doctor could answer, Asher suddenly raised his voice and shouted fiercely,
“Are you jolding?! Cora’s not even thirty yet! She’s so young. How could she be dying?”
“Are you in on this with her, trying to mess with me? I warn you, don’t ever joke lile this again!”
That day, Asher nearly smashed the ward apart.
He gathered countless expert teams, saying he didn’t care how much it cost he would make sure I survived.
But a terminal illness wasn’t something money could cure.
He searched every organ bank worldwide but couldn’t find a heart that matched my blood type.
The pack doctors urged him to give up and spend the time I had left with me.
But Asher was stubborn, refusing to give up on me. He even started considering living donors
Everyone in the werewolf world knew Asher, the famous Alpha, had a Luna who was terminally ill and needed a heart transplant.
Five billion dollars, or even more, or even priceless, he would pay anything to get a compatible heart for me
But no une was willing to trade their life for money. Even if they were, no one matched my rare blood type.
So Asher invested five billion dollars into a scientific team, demanding they develop an anti–rejection drug within a month.
If the rejection issue was solved, hearts would be available by the dozen.
When this news broke, everyone thought Asher had lost his mind–It was terrifying.
But Asher had money and power. No one in the entire werewolf world dared stand in his way.
Not even 1 could stop him. I even thought about suicide to prevent his madness,
He thus locked me up and tied me to the bed.
Kneeling beside me, he gently stroked my sunken cheek and whispered,
“Cora, don’t worry. I won’t let you dir.”
There was a stubborn madneys burning softly in his gentle eyes.
I couldn’t move a muscle, only shedding tears of despair.
Until my best friend Lucy arrived with my will.
Long ago, I had notarized a document giving her full power to make decisions for me.
I told her, if I ever lay unable to move, unable to eat or drink, I wanted to be euthanized.
She knew I feared pain more
more than anything.
Lucy slapped Asher hard, shouting angrily,

“You’re a bastard! You have money, so why won’t you save her?!”
Asher’s face was scratched and bloodied, looking utterly defeated as he muttered,
“I want to save her… I really want to save her!”
“It’s too late! It’s no use! She’s going to die!”
Lucy pushed him aside and reached for me, but Asher blocked her,
“You’re not taking!
her anywhere. Wherever I am, she stays.”
Asher stared at the will in Lacy’s hands and stood frozen
After a long silence, I heard him choke up and quietly plead,
“Lucy, please, let me take her. I’m begging you.”
“Believe me, she can survive. She can make it through.”
“She won
die. If she dies… what am I supposed to do?”
Lucy looked at him calmly and coldly spat,
“A selfish, heartless man like you could live just fine without anyone.”
“Stop pretending to care here. It’s disgusting.”
She pushed Asher away, sat beside me, and held my hand,
She barely started speaking before tears fell from her eyes.
She asked softly,
want to give up?u
“Do you really want to
Her cry made me feel the pain deep inside her. I wanted to raise my hand and wipe her tears.
I wanted to tell her she didn’t have to feel sorry for me.
I was just going to sleep a very long, long sleep
Sleeping meant no more pain.
Then she asked,
“Will you wake up one more time, please?”
“You said we should say goodbye properly so you wouldn’t regret it when leaving.”
“You haven’t said goodbye to your mon or to me yet. How could you have the heart to leave me like that?”
My tears fell with hers.
Suddenly, the life monitor beeped loudly.
The pack doctor urged Lucy to keep talking to me.
He said I was showing signs of walking up.
That day, Lucy held my hand tightly, barely daring to drink water, and kept talking to me
She kept switching between crying and laughing. It was honestly kind of scary.
Asher stayed in the corner of the room, too afraid to come near, just staring at me
It was like I suddenly didn’t want to leave this world after all. I wasn’t ready to die.
I struggled with my broken body.
Then, late into the night, I finally opened my eyes.
