After I cried, I looked at him a little sheepishly.
“Liam, don’t worry, I won’t be easily defeated. I’m going to make some handicrafts and sell them. I can still make money”
This was something I had been thinking about all along.
11:06 AM
Having lived so long in my previous life, I clearly understood the trends.
For me, this was an opportunity, and I intended to seize it!
Soon, I regained my spirits. With Liam by my side, I bought materials and made some beautiful, trendy hair accessories at home.
You couldn’t even find such accessories in the city.
So, as soon as I took them out, they sold out instantly.
That evening, on my way home, I encountered Blake at my doorstep.
I don’t know how he found me, but his face was stubble–faced and visibly haggard.
“Skylar, I finally found you.”
He stood a short distance away, looking at me awkwardly.
“I’ve thought a lot these past few days. I know how much I wronged you. I truly know I was wrong. Can you please forgive me?”
“I’ve already reported Ashley to the town mayor and had her sent to another town.”
“Will you come back and live a good life with me from now on?”
I scoffed. “Why should I?”
“Do you expect me to forgive you as if nothing happened after everything you put me through?”
Blake’s face went pale. His hands trembled. “My mom going to the department store to find you wasn’t my idea, it was Ashley’s. I never expected her to hate you so much!”
“Initially, I just pitied her because her husband ran back to the city and divorced her, so I helped her. I never, ever thought it would cause you so
much harm!”
Listening to his ridiculous repentance, I sneered.
“Is that so?”
“You might have forgiven Ashley for my sake, but I haven’t.”
“I haven’t forgotten how you spoke such heartless words to me while I was in labor. You almost killed me and our child, you know that?”
Blake’s body trembled violently, all the color draining from his face.
“Don’t be like this, Skylar. I truly know I was wrong. The child also wants a father. Wouldn’t it be better if we gave him a complete family?”
I scoffed. “No need. I can give him a complete family all by myself”
“Instead of a father who even tried to prevent his birth!”
With that, I walked straight into my house, and Blake watched me from behind for a long time.
For the next few days, he waited for me at my doorstep.
But I ignored him every time.
Until he saw Liam walk me home. He couldn’t take it anymore and pushed Liam aside.
“Skylar, are you really going to be with him?”
“Think carefully! He’ll eventually resent you and my child and abandon you!”
Liam frowned and stepped in front of me, shielding me.
“I’ve never thought that way. Skylar and I grew up together. If she hadn’t married you, maybe now I would have…”
Liam paused, then looked at me with suppressed emotion in his eyes.
“Thankfully, she’s free now. And I’ve never cared about her past. I’m willing to wait for the day she chooses to be with me!”
Blake gritted his teeth, looking at me bitterly.
But my gaze was entirely on Liam, looking at him with a mix of surprise and emotion.
I never imagined Liam would reveal his true feelings under such circumstances.
To say I wasn’t moved would be a lie.
I had always felt Liam’s unspoken affection for me, but because I had the same concerns as Blake, I dared not acknowledge those feelings.
And now, he had declared them so openly.
My eyes pricked with tears, and I instinctively reached for Liam’s hand, lacing my fingers with his.
Blake’s face instantly went white. I looked at him and said, “Blake, do you know why you always use that point to try and persuade me? Because in your heart, I’m still just ‘the woman who’s had a child. You’ve never truly respected me!”
“Now, you’ve seen it. You can get lost!”
With that, I walked away with Liam, not sparing Blake another glance.
Even when we reached the door, Liam still looked as if he couldn’t believe it.
“Skylar, are you serious?”
I held up our clasped hands and nodded. “Absolutely!”
