Chapter 10
…D
A few hours later.
“Useless! Five floors of the hospital ward, and you can’t find one person after searching for three hours?“]]
Matteo’s roar echoed through the hospital corridor as over a dozen bodyguards hung their heads, not daring to make a sound.]]
His assistant approached nervously, wiping cold sweat: “CEO Jackson, could Ms. Yunia have found the hospital stuffy… and gone straight home?“]
This suggestion made the air freeze for two seconds.
Matteo thought the assistant’s words weren’t entirely unreasonable, so he grabbed his car keys and rushed toward the parking garage.]]
The car sped onto the road, with the GPS constantly warning “running red light ahead,” but Matteo simply turned off the alerts and floored the accelerator.
While driving at high speed, he also tried to change lanes. A black Mercedes on the road nearly rear–ended him, its sharp honking piercing his eardrums.[]
“Can’t you drive? Think being rich makes you special? If you can’t drive, hire a chauffeur instead of being a menace on the road!“]] The other driver rolled down his window and cursed furiously.[]
Matteo yanked the steering wheel and forced the other car to stop. Ignoring that they were still on the road, he yanked open his door, grabbed the man by the collar, and slammed him against the hood.
His fist struck the man’s cheekbone with a dull thud. He said nothing, continuing to beat the man until he collapsed on the ground begging for mercy.
“I was wrong, I was wrong, please don’t hit me.‘
“O
“Next time you see my license plate, remember to stay away!” Matteo said through gritted teeth, pulling out a check from his wallet, casually writing a number, and throwing it on the man’s hood.
The man on the ground broke into a grin when he saw the string of zeros, immediately stopped complaining, didn’t even care about the scratches on his car, and quickly drove away as if afraid Matteo would change his mind.
Matteo paid no attention—he’d encountered such people too many times to be surprised.
When the outline of his villa came into view again, Matteo’s palins were covered in sweat.]
He looked up to see warm yellow light glowing from the top floor windows.
His throat tightened. Yunia was afraid of the dark and would always turn on all the lights when waiting for him to come home late at night.
So she should be home.[]
“Yunia!”

Matteo rushed into the bedroom. At first glance, nothing seemed missing, except for the person he most wanted to see.]
He instinctively opened the closet and drawers–Yunia’s usual things were all there.[]
“CEO Jackson?” His assistant’s voice came from behind. “The housekeeper said two days ago in the afternoon, he did see Ms. Yunia come back…“]
“Check the surveillance! Check it now!”
He rushed back into the room, searching everywhere someone could hide, but still found no clues.].
His hand gripping the note showed bulging veins as Matteo turned and stormed into the living room, kicking over a vase in frustration.]]
Wasn’t she supposed to be recovering from her injuries? Now she wasn’t at the hospital or even at home?[]
Where else could she possibly be?
Countless questions exploded in Matteo’s mind, but no one could answer them.]
He pulled out his lighter to light a cigarette, taking several attempts before it caught.]
The weak flame illuminated the wedding ring on his ring finger, and he realized Yunia seemed to have stopped wearing her matching ring a long time ago.
