Chapter 7
The nurse hesitated, then silently left the room.[]
The room had barely quieted down when Elizabeth’s phone suddenly rang.[]
She fumbled to answer it, and an elderly but strong voice came through:[]
“Sweetie, it’s Grandpa.“]
Elizabeth froze.]

In her diary, this old man from the Whitmore family seemed to be the only elder who had ever been kind to her.]
“My dear, I know about everything that’s been happening lately.” Grandpa Whitmore’s voice was gentle and heartbroken. “You’ve suffered so much. Since Sebastian married you, he should treat you well. Don’t worry, Grandpa will stand up for you.“[]
This was the first time since her amnesia that Elizabeth felt genuine care and love.[]
Her nose tingled, and she almost cried: “It’s okay, Grandpa. I’m fine.“]
“You always make my heart ache, sweetheart.” Grandpa Whitmore sighed. “You were born a princess, suffered so much after being kidnapped, and your parents don’t cherish you–they actually treat their adopted daughter better than you. And Sebastian too…
o…“]
“All these years you’ve given him so much. He’s picky and difficult, but you learned massage techniques just for him. You traveled to dozens of cities to find that rare tea set he wanted. When he had a bleeding ulcer, you stayed awake three days and nights taking care of him. When his mother died, you handled the entire funeral… Yet he treats you so coldly, can’t see your true heart. He’ll regret it!“[]
Elizabeth stared blankly at the white ceiling. She didn’t remember any of these things, but just hearing about them made her heart
ache.
“Alright, Grandpa has to go for his check–up now.” He said finally, “Remember, if you need anything, come to Grandpa for support.“[]
Not long after the call ended, the hospital room door was slammed open.[]
Sebastian stood in the doorway, his suit immaculate, his eyes ice–cold.
“First you fake suicide with an allergic reaction, then you run to Grandpa for backup. Elizabeth, besides suicide attempts and calling Grandpa, don’t you have any other tricks to get my attention?“[]
Elizabeth wanted to explain, but seeing his mocking expression, she simply said quietly: “I wasn’t faking suicide. I forgot I was allergic to peanuts.”
“Forgot about your peanut allergy?” Sebastian laughed coldly. “Why don’t you just say you forgot who you are entirely?“[]
Elizabeth–looked at him quietly
Yes, she had forgotten who she was []
She’d forgotten the Elizabeth who had been so desperate for love, forgotten years of bone–deep despair, and forgotten… the love that had once penetrated her very soul.[]
But she didn’t say any of this]

Chapter 7
Perhaps due to Grandpa’s pressure, Sebastian reluctantly stayed to “take care” of her. Rather than care, it was more like another form
of torture.
When her IV line backed up with blood, he ignored it. When hot water scalded her hand, he remained unmoved. Even when she had trouble breathing and pressed the call button for help, he just made phone calls to his assistant: “Has Clarissa’s burn been treated?…
Mm, send over the best scar cream.”
m.“]
Most ridiculously, even though she no longer loved him, Elizabeth still felt suffocated.]
She could hardly imagine how her former self, who had loved Sebastian so desperately, had endured years of this daily torture.
Outside the window, sycamore leaves drifted down, and she suddenly remembered the last line in her diary:[]
[If there’s ever a day I don’t love you anymore, it must be because my heart has died.]]]
Looking back now, the Elizabeth who had written those words had probably died long ago in countless nights of being ignored.[]
