Chapter 8

Tristian

How did I get here? One moment, I’m outside helping with training our young wolves and now I’m inside the pack doctor, Jim’s, house looking down at Daisy.

When an Omega named Samuel rushed out to us, I felt annoyed. What was someone like him even doing out here? “What is an Omega doing out here huh?” My Gamma Grayson snickers as do the younger wolves.

Then his words cut deep into my heart. “Help me, please! Omega Daisy was attacked and she’s bleeding from her head! She won’t wake up!”

My feet moved before I could even say anything. “Lead the way,” I said immediately and Samuel ran off ahead of me so I could follow.

Samuel took me to the kitchen and horror hit me when I saw Daisy on the ground. Using our pack mind-link, I barked orders to Jim to get ready while I carefully picked Daisy up. She was light as a feather, shockingly so.

I rushed her over to Jim’s house and placed her down after Jim ordered me to do so. I stood back and watched as he tended to her wounds.

Samuel got there soon after I did but he was forced to stay outside. He would have been better off going back to work but he refused to leave. “I’m not leaving my friend alone like this!”

His words made me want to growl but I held back. Why would I act like a jealous kid? Daisy meant nothing to me! She’s merely Dahlia’s sister and nothing more.

Jim worked for a couple of hours and when he finished up, he sighed. “She was hit in the head twice, once on the side and another in the back. She will have a concussion but other than that, she’s fine. She’s underweight but I think that’s an Omega thing.” He said dismissively

I heard a small laugh come from Samuel outside and scowled. Did he think he could be disrespectful and no one would notice? “What’s so funny, Omega?” I asked darkly.

Samuel fell silent for a moment but then turned and looked me straight in the eye. I was startled by his boldness. “Just an Omega thing. That’s what’s so funny.”

This Omega didn’t seem weak and pathetic at all. Before I could talk, Samuel continued. “We don’t get a chance to eat and when we do, it’s crumbles and pieces you all leave behind. If we try to eat more, we’re punished for it. So saying that ‘it’s an Omega thing’ when it comes to weight is rather insulting.”

I felt stunned by his blunt boldness. No one dared to talk to their higher up this way but here was an Omega daring to speak to his Alpha this way. Samuel scoffed and walked past me over to Daisy.

“… Do you love her or something?” I asked and felt a pang in my heart. Why would I care if he did? Daisy means nothing to

me!

“Perhaps I had a crush on her a while ago,” Samuel said being completely honest. “But Daisy will only ever see me as ‘Sammy’ her little brother.” He took her hand and I felt like tossing him against the wall. However, I couldn’t find anything to say so he continued.

“Besides when she finds her mate, she’ll be treated like the queen she is.” Guilt hit my heart again at his words. At least Daisy kept her word. “She stays the lowest ranked Omega so that we don’t get treated like she does. She doesn’t want us to get hurt. I wish she wouldn’t put it all on her shoulders.” Samuel put her hand against his forehead and closed his eyes. “If I was stronger, maybe I could help. Instead, I’m a coward and only help her lick her wounds after the fact. Pathetic…”

Samuel saw himself as weak for what he was doing. He could only watch from the sidelines and help her later on. What did that make me then? His words got to me more than I thought they would and it pissed me off.

Eventually, Samuel had to leave to get some work done and now, I’m still standing here watching over Daisy,

Her breathing is soft and slow and her silver hair is stained with flicks of red. All this time only a few Omegas visited her before scurrying away when they saw me. Where is her family?

Phil and Jessica are the Betas of the pack and her parents. Even Dahlia hasn’t come to visit her. I know they hate that she’s a weak Omega but to this point? Do they not care if she lives or dies?

I sigh and run a hand through my hair. Silas is pacing in my mind worried about the little Omega to the point of whimpering. I wish this bond would completely disappear so I wouldn’t feel so guilty,

I hear a small groan and perk up. Daisy grimaces and starts to stir. When she opens her eyes, it feels like a punch in the gut. Her eyes are so dull, unlike the last time I saw them. They stare up at the ceiling for so long and I feel antsy. Why isn’t she reacting to anything? Isn’t she in pain?

“Daisy?” Her body tenses and her eyes flicker over to me. I see her quickly sit up and I rush over. “Don’t move!” I say firmly and make her lay back down. “You were attacked and have a concussion.”

Her wrists are so thin as I hold them down. How can she function being so thin? A hard wind could blow her away,

“Attacked…?” Daisy echoes and looks confused. Does she not remember? “No… Dahlia came and pushed me a few times…” she mumbles and closes her eyes.

My heart skips a beat. Dahlia? I look her over and then scowl. No… there’s no way she would have done this to her sister. She might slap her but cause her this much harm? Dahlia is an angel!

“Why are you lying?” I ask without thinking. Daisy opens her eyes and looks puzzled. “Dahlia would never do something like this. Are you being petty now? Well, it isn’t going to work!” I let her go and step back.

“I-I’m not lying…!” Daisy stammers but then cowers under my harsh glare. “W-why would I lie? Petty? I’ve stayed away all this time… why would I…?”

I cut her off. “Why else? You want to ruin her reputation.” I turn my back on her. “Stay away from us. If I hear that you’re trying to frame Dahlia again, I’ll throw you into the dungeons and throw away the key.” I clench my fists.

“A-alpha! W-why…?” Daisy’s voice sounds so small and sad. “W-why… won’t you believe me…?” She sounds ready to cry. She’s giving a convincing act, but I see right through her.

“You probably did this to yourself,” I say dismissively. “Get better soon so you can get back to work! What good are you otherwise?” With that, I leave the room still feeling heated.

How dare she try and frame Dahlia as a monster! If she thinks she can get away with it, she has another thing coming. She needs to be put back in her place and stay there forever.

“Just wait… you’ll wish you were never born after I get done with you,” I growl under my breath.
