Chapter 26

Aiden

Everything Naomi says pisses me off more and more. How can anyone treat another person that way? What kind of pack was she in? When she kisses my fist and looks into my eyes though, I melt and just want to hold her close. She’s nothing like Rosie and that makes everything better.

As we make it to my home, everyone stops and stares at us. Naomi tenses and starts to growl lowly. I can tell she’s unsure of this but I take her hand and squeeze it gently. “It’s ok,” I whisper and she looks at me. “They’re just curious. I’ll let everyone know who you are later. For now… are you hungry?”

Naomi watches me before looking around nervously. She’s only being defensive and I don’t blame her at all. “Yes, a little.” She says and I start to lead her to the mess hall. No one is eating at this hour so she won’t need to be wary of people there.

I walk inside and motion for her to follow. “Do you like sandwiches?” Naomi tilts her head and nods. “Great! It’s the only thing I can make.” I grin sheepishly and lead her into the kitchen.

“A sandwich made by the great Alpha Aiden? It would be an honor.” Naomi jokes and I grin more. She’s getting more comfortable with me! That’s always a good sign!

I take out some meat, salad dressing, and bread before I make her a roast beef sandwich. It’s simple and easy but I like the taste of it anyway. “Here you go.” I offer it to her.

Naomi nods and smiles. “Thank you. I appreciate it.” She takes a bite and relaxes. “Mmm… it’s been so long since I’ve had something good…” she continues to eat and I lean against the counter to watch her.

How could anyone be so evil towards a wonderful woman like her? I can tell she’s already a wolf of the night since her albinism would make the sun unbearable for her. She’ll fit in perfectly here.

“Do I have something on my face?” I blink as Naomi looks at me with a raised eyebrow. “You keep staring so much that it makes me think you don’t want me to ever disappear from your sight. I’m not going anywhere. Don’t worry.”

I blush and look to the side. Maybe I fear she’ll disappear or leave me like Rosie. I just don’t want to ruin this second chance ever. “I’m not worried. I’m just happy that you’re here. It’s been over four years now so… it’s nice to have you here with me

now.”

Naomi pauses licking her fingers and looks back to me. “I’m sorry.” She whispers and walks over to me. She places a hand on my shoulders and offers a small smile. Her sweetness makes a pang of pain go through my chest.

Her loss will always hurt and there isn’t a day that I don’t miss Rosie. Somehow, I feel like Naomi will understand how I feel every day due to the loss of my mate, and in turn, Daisy will too.

“It’s ok… why don’t we get you a shower? So you can rest and take a nap.” I suggest. Naomi nods and looks at my jacket. “And get you in some actual clothes,” I add.

Naomi nods. “Ok. I do like your jacket though. Nice and comfy… and it smells like you.” I blush again but clear my throat and lead the way to my house.

I call on Brooke, an Omega, to get a change of women’s clothes and bring them to my house via pack mind-link as I lead her to the bathroom. “Go ahead and get comfortable. A change of clothes is on its way.”

Naomi nods and smiles. “See you soon.” She says and shuts the door. I sigh and go to the living room to sit down. Having my second chance mate is like a dream. How did I get so lucky with a wonderful Luna wolf?

Chapter 26

I stir to the sound of retching and open my eyes. I rub my eyes and frown as I stand up. “Naomi?” I call out as I make my way to the bathroom. I still hear that sound and get worried. What’s going on? I knock on the door. “Hey… are you ok in there?”

Once the sound stops, the silence drags on and I get worried. As I reach for the doorknob, I hear a click and the door cracks open. “W-who are you?” I hear a timid voice and see a purple eye watching me.

She looks like Naomi, but I can tell she isn’t her. This must be Daisy! I clear my throat and offer a small smile. “It’s Aiden… I met your wolf Naomi yesterday.” She looks very weary of me. “You must be Daisy… are you alright? I heard you throwing up in there.”

Daisy swallows hard and looks down. “Y-yeah… b-but why am I…?” She tenses and looks at me again. “Mate…” she whispers and my heart sinks. Her purple eyes are wide with fear. “P-please don’t…” I stop the door from shutting and her fear increases.

Her trauma makes me angry, but I don’t let it show. I clear my throat. “I, Aiden Rivers, Alpha of Crimson Moon pack,” I start making her flinch and whimper, “… accept you, Daisy, as my mate and Luna.”

Daisy pauses and stares at me like a deer in headlights. She lets go of the door and lets it swing open but I don’t move. She’s scared enough and cornered too as I take a step back as well. “R-really?” She whispers and holds herself. “Y-you don’t… you don’t reject me?”

My eyes soften and I shake my head. “I will never reject you. I’m willing to wait until you accept me too, Daisy.” I tell her gently and offer her a hand. “I wish to love you and be the best mate I can be. You’re my second chance as well, Daisy.”

She watches me still trembling and I wish I could go and get rid of the ones who made her this way. “I-I am? W-what happened…?” She stammers and then her face flushes. “N-no.. You don’t… I’m sorry…”

I offer a small smile. “I’ll tell you when I’m ready… but just know that I’ve been waiting to meet you for a long time. Now… is it alright if I call for someone? I want to make sure you’re not sick.”

Daisy hesitates and stares at my hand I keep holding out. She’s silent and still for a while and I only wait with a gentle smile. She then reaches out and takes my hand. “O-ok…” she whispers.

I smile. “Let me take you downstairs,” I say before leading her to the living room. Daisy is very shy and jumpy so I want to make sure she doesn’t feel cornered ever again.

‘Olivia, please come to my house. I want you to do a check-up on my mate. I told our pack doctor. I can tell she’s shocked at what I said but she lets me know she’ll be there shortly.

I sit in a chair while Daisy sits on the couch with her knees to her chest. I hope everything is fine and we have nothing to worry about. I can’t help but feel anxious though as I watch her. Will she really be alright?
